Whattaboutism generally is tiresome, I totally agree. I think whattaboutism is also used as some magic shield.I appreciate and respect your passion and historical knowledge; the point I’m trying to make (and apparently poorly), is that if ‘we’ do not stop engaging in ‘whataboutism’ where will we land? It just seems so counterproductive .
To add: By “we” I mean both sides of the aisle.
"Trump is a fascist cause I feel that way!"
"Ok, here are 10 examples of your party doing these specific things that are pretty fascist for the last since 2008 so aren't you a hypocrite?"
"THATS WHATABBOUTISM LET'S JUST START FRESH RIGHT NOW AND MOVE ON."
I suppose it's interesting to think about "what's historically relevant and should be considered" vs "whattaboutism" on issues.
