The Trump Presidency 2.0

"I am a former CIA Officer, listen to me."
"I am a former Army Ranger and Paratrooper, listen to me."

No no Mr Crow, you are human excrement. Eff off.

(I am not any of those things, just a old broke cavalryman)

Which is my point. Replace them all. A vote for any incumbent is a vote for the status quo. Anyone voting for the incumbent is happy with the current system.

I see things on three levels: national, state, local. I don't mind voting repeatedly for a local incumbent because they've done well by me/my area, district, whatever. For fed? Nah, fam.

Media suggests the video is just to remind us of our oath and to not follow illegal orders, but seems to miss when they specifically say "Right now, the threats to our Constitution aren’t just coming from abroad, but from right here at home" They went further urging service members to "refuse illegal orders.” it's just political rhetoric that is protected by their 1st amendment right and made to sound official.. but at least they "have our back"

We, current and former, military do no need reminding of our duty from any congressmen or senators....stay in your lane and do your fucking job.

This was not on my Bingo card.

Marjorie Taylor Greene announces resignation from Congress after President Trump withdraws endorsement

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., announced late Friday she will resign her seat in Congress, one week after former President Donald Trump publicly pulled his endorsement of the outspoken Georgia lawmaker.

In a lengthy statement posted to X, Greene cited her growing disillusionment with Washington politics, blasting what she called a corrupt "Political Industrial Complex" that she said uses Americans as "pawns in an endless game of division."

"Americans are used by the Political Industrial Complex of both political parties, election cycle after election cycle, in order to elect whichever side can convince Americans to hate the other side more," Greene wrote. "And the results are always the same — nothing ever gets better for the common American man or woman."

Greene said she had "never fit in" in Washington and was leaving Congress to "fight for the people of this country in a different way."

Her announcement comes amid political fallout following Trump’s decision last week to withdraw his endorsement, calling Greene "Wacky" and "a ranting lunatic."

In her statement, Greene announced her last day of office would be Jan. 5, 2026.

The Office of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

This is a developing story, check back later for updates.

Those in Congress that were trying to start sedition, all fall under 18 US Code 2387 which states the following: "Activities affecting armed forces generally," criminalizes acts that cause or encourage insubordination, disloyalty, mutiny, or refusal of duty within the U.S. military and naval forces, or obstruct the recruiting or enlistment service. It applies to various activities, including advising members to desert, distributing literature that promotes disloyalty, and obstructing enlistment, with penalties including fines, imprisonment for up to ten years, and a five-year ban from U.S. government employment.

I bet we'd get higher quality recruits if retirement vested at 4 years in the Army...Congress gets 80% of the average of top 3 earning years if they serve five or more years. Crazy work.
Its been said that Congress is Hollywood for ugly people. Its where the talentless go to get rich and famous.

Might have been google AI halucinating on me.

So if I did that right just now. 174,000x5x.01 is definitely not 80%. So she she should get $8700/year when she turns 62.

Point kinda stands though, if you got say 5k/year for the rest of your life after 4 years of service things would change a bit on quality of recruits.

Yup, and no worries, because that persistent rumor about Congress folks' retirement plans is so pervasive that it can actually surprising to see they're actually on par with the rest of standard federal workers.

The one I wasn't aware of until recently was that their yearly accrual percentage also matched the standard federal retirement plan rather than the higher percentage reserved for law enforcement, firefighters, and other niche jobs. Senator Rounds from S.D. has a quick blurb on this and other perk myths here.

So while that 5-year vesting also applies to most other feds too, I still agree with you that there should be fewer personal incentives towards running for Congress to discourage bloat.
