Those in Congress that were trying to start sedition, all fall under 18 US Code 2387 which states the following: "Activities affecting armed forces generally," criminalizes acts that cause or encourage insubordination, disloyalty, mutiny, or refusal of duty within the U.S. military and naval forces, or obstruct the recruiting or enlistment service. It applies to various activities, including advising members to desert, distributing literature that promotes disloyalty, and obstructing enlistment, with penalties including fines, imprisonment for up to ten years, and a five-year ban from U.S. government employment.
