I gotta say - I don't watch the Olympics anymore - haven't watched it since terrible human beings started decided to taint the sports that they all claim to love with their bizarre little acts of rebellious and vile partisan politics - fuck the Olympics - in fact - for the most part, fuck the Olympians too...

Australia has done that for years with great results, at least according to the RAAF folks I used to work with. It can work if properly handled.

BUT this policy is just an election vote buying tactic. There's rumors of a spring election, so Carney can get a majority and push through his Commie policies.
Trudeau changed it to allow Permanent Residents (like green card holders). But they are having a fuck ton of problems. A buddy does IEP's for junior rank commo douchebags. A lot of language training because they can't or can barely speak English.
CSIS is responsible for all security clearance background checks. But they don't have an official overseas mandate and rely on country of origin documentation. From allied nations can take some time. So, clearances for some of those permanent resident recruits are sitting at multiple years without being cleared. I expect most under this new policy won't get a clearance and we'll waste all that recruitment and training, just to release them.
Update- Mar a Lago kid was (by all available non-retarded reporting) definitely not left wing, family reports indicate he went down the Epstein rabbit hole.
Anyone wanna bet there are gonna be like, 20 more of these? The overwhelming trendy thing to do now (especially for mil influencers) is the whole "we aren't gonna vote our way outta this! Time to arm up and kill these demons!" which they definitely *aren't* doing. They're riding trends for clout.

There has been a ton of people in the psych adjacent space talking about this. With social media, porn, and brain rot influencers, many boys are not forming valuable personal relationships. It is easy to radicalize an unemployed young man. That goes both ways for sure.
And those entering adulthood or in their early 20's, the most impressionable of minds, would have spent their formative years in a classroom and/ or workforce were it not for COVID.
This ties into the killing of Charlie Kirk, the rise of those who took his place, and all. I said it at the time- there is a whole class of people just searching for "who they are supposed to be" as men, and the guy who was willing to talk and debate is the one you want as the lead of those men. Not the guys railing on about whatever they're doing now.
The guy that wanted to sit down at a table and talk it out isn't here, and now you have a whole host of nihilist, regressive dorks talking about violence (in veiled tones) and those impacts are going to be felt very bigly, very shortly.

Well, the war on masculinity of the last 40 odd years was only partially subdued because we went to war for 20 years. But even then not enough of their possible parents served in austere environments to understand what it takes to do ridiculous and hard things. Still in Good Times, wondering when the Hard Times hit us.

The scariest part is how many of these assholes think that there is some sort of Hollywood style romanticized heroics involved for those modern day "patriots" that just cant seem to wait to "fight their way out" of "something"
Once "real" civil unrest and partisan violence starts in modern day America - the entire world is going to change - forever.
Some assholes just can't see past that.
