Along the lines of the derailments, there seems to be a significant connection to arson or at the very least government neglect being responsible for some of the major fires this year. The media is focused on the Lahaina fire for obvious reasons but there's some major fires in Canada right now.

Not sure if I posted this before but it's good place to see the current fires and smoke forecasts. Smoke Forecast - FireSmoke.ca

The capital of the Northwest Territories is being evacuated and at least some of the fires are caused by arson.

Just like California, letting the eco-terrorists dictate policy; has resulted in an unstable forestry. Similar policies were pushed across North America. But they'd rather blame oil and gas and climate change. I'm getting tired of platitudes instead of acting to prevent a lot of these fires.

Sad emoji for the people who are losing everything they own. Wildfires don't discriminate.

Out of curiosity, were these ones natural, arson, or "accident" caused? Accident is in quotes, because what that usually really means is stupidity or brazen disregard for conditions.

Has anyone been paying attention to what's going on with all MGM Resorts nationwide (hotels, casinos, etc - Bellagio, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, etc.)?

Now, this clearly isn't U.S infrastructure but it seems to hint at a significant and complex cyberattack. It appears the same group hit Caesars a couple weeks ago. This attack has largely shutdown everything from gaming machines (video poker and slots) to hotel communications going on 4 days now.

Given the security associated with gaming machines, this is pretty serious. It appears to be a DoS/ransomware attack and a group called Scattered Spider is reportedly responsible. This is a pretty good article on the issue:

Over the past few weeks, MGM and Caesars were both hacked by one of the most 'aggressive threat actors' targeting the U.S.

^ Update to the story above.

As mentioned in the earlier link, a Russian hacker group called ALPHV or "Blackcat" is claiming responsibility as part of a coordinated attack using simple social engineering.

According to their online post, “All ALPHV ransomware group did to compromise MGM Resorts was hop on LinkedIn, find an employee, then call the Help Desk. A company valued at $33.9 billion was defeated by a 10-minute conversation.”
