Happy New Year, ate a nice rib eye and proceeded to drink profusely. I've realized I shouldn't worry about what others are doing, just try and be the best I can day in and day out and focus only on friends and family.
Anyone got any good resolutions for this year? I'm going to focus on this one:
I think talking about our military experiences is therapeutic, contributes to history, and helps people who never served (the vast majority of our country) understand us.
Quoted for truth, sir. The thing that helped me the most when my PTSD was severe (and I mean 25 years of bottled up severity) was when I got hooked up with a small group of combat vets at the Vet Center who had been through similar experiences and we talked. We found out that we shared not only traumatic combat experiences, but similar post-military life situations, divorce, rage, substance abuse, etc. Those sessions and some effective medications helped change my life. Shadowspear has kind of taken the place of that group in recent years, but I can't stress how important venting is, especially with other people who have BTDT. Thank you for bringing this up.
