Probably a really good choice.
No probability at all, he gives the CCP a run for their money & have labelled him the most predjudiced US military chief since WW2. He’s been a strong critic of Chinese strategic influences in the Asia-Pacific region.

Unsure if it's the most diplomatic choice to select such a hyper critical opponent to our largest trading partner. But it should prove interesting to see how it all pans out anyway.
Considering Chinese interfere here which has been sustained & persistent: their attempt to buy the NBN wholesale, their successful cyber attacks & their (thwarted) attempt to buy whatever infrastructure they can, Adm. Harris will at least tug their coat & give them pause. My take is that they will act as they are the aggrieved party. They needs our quarries, which I’m sure you’re aware of, as much as we need the trade. Looking further there’s nothing that shadow FM Penny Wong is saying that is too different from the current govts position which is a good indication of consistency.
Adm Harris would open a can of Whoop Ass on China if he had half the chance.
