Canada's Arctic Surge

It is a giant fucking mess. Even in the summer, we rely on unarmed Coast Guard ice breakers to operate any of our fleet in the Arctic. The Arctic Patrol Ship contract is fucked and looks like we'll get less boats than originally ordered. We are reliant on allies for replenishment at sea now. We don't have enough subs. We don't have deep water port in the Arctic and the plans to build one are delayed. Our Air Force is no better and our interceptors are past prime and we don't have enough to cover all of our territory. And the F-35 doesn't fit the bill and who knows when we'll finally see one with a maple leaf on it. Our eyes in the North, the Rangers, still use .303's; were to be replaced already but probably won't see a new rifle for 4-5 years.

The common problem is the need to be Canadian sourced... always fucks up the contracts.

Thanks.

I am finding these stories to be pretty accurate then, which is really interesting.
