Charlie Kirk shooting -

Right. As a conservative, I've always thought we were the more logical people. Liberals are the folks who make stuff up, like, you know, a man can be a woman and have babies and shit. We need people who simply speak logic.

I love arguing with liberals because I make them madder and madder when I interject the logical fallacies they are using. Then I say, "I bet if you eat a can of alphabet soup you'd shit a more logical argument."

Oh the conservatives can be just as emotional. Go ahead and ask a pro conservative gun board on NFA laws specific to what is and isn't a pistol for an AR15 and put up face shields from the face spittle replies and teeth gnashing.

Oh man! I do that too, but not the wit at the end. I simply use the insults that they had used and reverse it on them. Like calling someone an idiot, and then explaining the fallacy they had used and why only true idiots attack the messenger because you cannot articulate an actual position due to not having one better so the insults are a coping defensive mechanism, ya actual idiot.

Feds don't fix "cultural shifts" - they can't
...unless we really do want to live in a place ruled by totalitarian dictators. It is part of the responsibility that comes with assuming the the identity of "WE THE PEOPLE"
It isn't "we the government" - it's WE.THE.PEOPLE.
The problem is, "WE THE PEOPLE" is hard, it's inconvenient, it demands that "we" stop this bullshit habit of thinking that "somebody ought to do something"

Hell, the courts have REPEATEDLY found and declared that law enforcement DOES NOT have a constitutional duty to "protect and serve"
Again, it's all part of that annoying responsibility and accountability that accompanies being "WE THE PEOPLE"

We the People just love to "pretend" that cultural shifts are always someone else's problem - then when it BECOMES their problem, they just demand that "somebody" do something about it - by that point is can only be fixed with torches and pitchforks. It's the bloody byproduct of a society that refuses to admit that "Overton's Window" is a thing until its too late.

Stop making sense brother.

Erika Kirk has a right to be concerned after what happened to her husband, but based on Secret Service findings, I'm not sure this was really a big deal. We're finding out Erika Kirk is a pretty dramatic individual.

Secret Service determines no credible threats to UGA rally after Erika Kirk's cancellation, source says
Maybe.
No threats at the venue, but her team said the threats were along the route of travel.

IIRC, this is the same group doing security for Trump in PA, right?

Secret Service was focused on the VP, so I wouldn't totally discount her security teams concerns. But, social media threats are now commonplace so either you're going to be a public figure or you're not. I am not a fan of hers, she seems dramatic and has been caught in several lies. But, after what happened to her husband I can empathize.

Wanting to actually kill a person who we don't like based on politics here in the USA a nation where we treasure our rights to among others, free speech, is pretty wild. WTF has happened here!?

What do we do about it? Social media has changed the world and not for better IMO. Unfortunately, if you want to be rich and famous for expressing your opinion, especially in a divisive subject like religion, youre likely going to butt hurt some crazy, basement dwelling, keyboard warriors.

Admittedly - I don't know any leftists that advocate violence against...
wait - never mind - yes I do
...and not only do they OPENLY celebrate the violence against Charlie Kirk, they also applauded the talking hollywood heads that made jokes about violence aimed at republican politicians as well as expressing sorrow that some villains don't shoot better
...they also speak freely about the possibility that radical right wingers should be "re-educated"
...folks that have spent the last 40 years openly mocking christian faith
...suddenly appalled that the POpe isn't being treated as "infallible"

Real people saying real things.
Not for a second realizing (or at least not caring) that they are literally preaching hate directly to my face.
...as they try to virtue signal on how much they are oppressed

I wish I had an answer for you Top, but it's not that simple anymore.

My opinion of Erika is rather low and whenever I see her involved in a story like this I'm immediately skeptical.

That said, her husband was publicly murdered and the investigation more flawed than an episode of Law and Order. So regardless of any opinion about her behavior we're supposed to ignore threats to her life, real or imagined? Nah, we can't do that. Her being merked out under questionable security circumstances would be ugly. We have enough "ugly" in our country right now, so let's just keep her alive. It's better that way.

Same. I'll save my view of her for another discussion, but free speech in this country has to be protected and nobody should be executed for their opinion. As a Christian (and maybe not very good one), there are a lot of things I disagree with that people do, but opinions are like assholes and all that. Live and let live.

I have a few bible lovers for friends, real people that I have met in this life, some even have served with. What they say doesn't even bother me. When my wife was killed, I said thank you for their kind words. When my mother had passed, I again appreciated their kind thoughts.

I dunno, maybe I was raised different but when I come across someone talking religion my first response isn't to be derogatory and insulting and calling their beliefs as sky fairies. I mean I am Jewish but not a full practicing one.

I'm for live and let live too. Which is why I find it strange that some are too quick to want violence on a person just because we're not the same.
