Hello everyone. My name is Ben. Im 25 yrs old and have lived in virginia most of my life. Ill start my story from a few years back..
I decided i wanted to join the military back in january of 2010. I screwed up in college (long story, basically wasnt challenged enough, and couldnt handle freedom). As a second chance to a great life i decided to join the navy. I was 210lbs at 65 inches. Slightly overweight.. over the next two and a half years, i managed to drop weight down to 165, and land a contract as a navy NUC. I was in DEP for five months, and in that time got married. This was the easier part of my story.
The day i was supposed to be shipped to basic, i had a shift of heart. You can be like my recruiter or some other people i know, and say i bailed. That i was afraid. And in some ways you would be correct. I was afraid of living a life that i did not want to live. Yes, i got the nuke contract, which, as i understand, isnt handed out very often. But it wasnt what i wanted.. it was what everyone else in my life wanted for me. I just went with it. Afterall, my whole family is navy..
Imagine their heartache when i told them i wanted to join the air force special operations weather team. I want to be a meteorologist. And a badass one at that. This is what brought me here to this site.
