Is it worth rejoining as a Intel weenie to do Cool Guy Stuff as an enabler?

I think you misunderstood. The Command has uniformed, government civilians, and contractors. Everyone contributes to the mission.

I knew that, but I was just asking if you were doing the same jobs throughout each different component.

I was a Guard 35L for a bit. While I was never part of a SOF unit, I did augment SOJTF-A in Afghanistan on SOCOM orders. One of the best assignments I had. A different take would be to switch to the reserves as there are more opportunities for the things you are looking for. In my experience, you're limited because some units restrict Guard applicants. Guard to Reserve gives you access to opportunities while keeping your ability to support on the civilian side as well.

My big question, how do you guarantee a SOF assignment?
You said your Air Guard, have you contacted any of the AFSOC gained Guard units to see if they have Intel Openings?

Working as a DOD CTR is cool and all, but I miss the purpose I had in the military. I don't know if I'm just romanticizing things, but I'm really debating if its worth rejoining active duty (Either Army, USAF, or Navy), in order to try out for some of the more unique Intel and Cyber SOF organizations. That's basically my only reason to go back to AD at this point and to leave the National Guard.

Thoughts on this plan? Some say its dumb to leave all that money behind as a CTR, but idk. I have no debt and feel comfortable.

Speaking as someone who's currently active duty (Army)- I would say it is 100% a good decision. To continue to add to your federal pension along with being able to see the goings on in the current states of the different theaters. The support guys we have definitely enjoy life and most of the time are out of uniform more often than we are. You get the bonus of being able to be a good guy who the teams ask to come to different trainings. You're also afforded the opportunity to go on deployments if you have a good reputation-making the same perdiem!
