I've been tasked with putting together a military memorial ceremony (separate event from the funeral) for an LT in our Battalion who was killed last weekend. I've never done this before, and I actually haven't even seen one. I'm using the outline from The Soldier's Guide (FM 7-21.13), Appendix C, but it's pretty barebones.
Any recommendations, best practices, etc.?
Is the role call an individual one or by squads/platoons/companies?
Who should present the remarks for the memorial tribute?
Anything that your unit does for one of these that is different from The Soldier's Guide that you especially like?
Is the family ever invited to or involved in a military memorial ceremony (vice a military funeral)?
