My Random TV Thread

Playing it off as oh I was drunk and I'm a gay man doesn't make it any better.

Agreed - but with @Red Flag 1 as well. An internet lynchmob is no way to conduct any review for justice, accountability, or due process. Still, victimization by the powerful towards the less powerful in any context - political, business, showbusiness - has been going on for a long time. The fact now increasingly the marginalized have a way to strike back or have their voices heard - and it is not going away if there is not some other recourse.

It really is a completely different world, isn’t it.

Executives from Netflix and the show's producer, Media Rights Capital, said they arrived in Baltimore, where the show is shot, on Monday afternoon to make sure actors and crew "continue to feel safe and supported." Spacey was not scheduled to be on set on Monday

Accused, tried, found guilty and sentenced in the media in less than a week; judge Rosie presiding.

The power of the media right or wrong with no parole or appeal process. What a country!

What pieces was the Mauve Hand sliding across the board game? What will the Fuschia Fucks (a 'death to Smoochy' reference here) tweet next? I hold my garlic breath.

Stranger Things! You only gave us 9 episodes this season! I'm not ready for it to be over. You left a major cliffhanger!
what is the purpose of Max and her brother? They seemed like such central characters to this season yet we never found out what their main purpose is.

Ya know, if you really do enjoy "Stranger Things", you may want to look at these two fillums if you haven't. The first, you likely know about at least, JJ.. Abrams' "Super 8". But the second is more obscure and pretty trippy: Pan Cosmatos' "Beyond the black rainbow". "Black rainbow" is a bit slower, more atmospheric, and blends Dario Argento and early De Palma. Pan Cosmatos is the son of the "Tombstone" and "Cassadra Crossing" director (I'll leave 1986's "Cobra" with Stallone out of it). Trailers below.

Translation:
We can have his character killed and keep our money maker running for numerous future seasons.

'House of Cards' filming suspended amid Spacey accusations
House of Cards' filming suspended amid Spacey accusations
LOS ANGELES — Filming of season 6 on the political thriller "House of Cards" has been suspended following accusations that Kevin Spacey made sexual advances on a teen boy some three decades ago.

Netflix and the show's producer Media Rights Capital had already decided to end the series at the end of the current season but on Tuesday they chose to pause the production, which is filmed in Baltimore, "to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew." Spacey was not scheduled to work that day.

This event shows just how far apart the entertainment people are from the mainstream of America. They are a society with their own rules and the rest of us are worthless in their eyes, and that's fine. The Hollywood rich and famous can rip themselves to shreds, it shows how ugly and shallow they really are without a script, makeup artists, and directors telling them exactly what to do.

I don't think that's entirely fair. I think Hollywood is just uniquely vulnerable to this type of social-media fueled vigilantism. Hollywood is nominally (publicly) socially liberal - in this context meaning the onus is on the accused perpetrator vs the accuser. Plus, Hollywood is fueled by publicity as a leading indicator of profitability. If you want to fuck with any organization in America fuck with their money - Hollywood just has a clearer line between publicity and money than most sectors.

I think these same problems are likely endemic to other parts of our society but, those sectors are less vulnerable to this type of exposure.

1 - Where is my damn hate button!
2 - Can you at least tip us off on what they are working on?
1. They wanted me to work at their office every day...homie don't play that.
2. I'm working on BILLIONS right now, my second season.
3. Look out for THE UPSIDE - Kevin Hart, Bryan Cranston and Nicole Kidman.
That one made me cry at least once a week for months. It's going to be really good but the only thing people will say about it is that it's Weinstein's last film.
