My Random TV Thread

The Blacklist decided to dramatically alter the show this week. That will be interesting to watch.

To say I am unamused by this development would be a gross understatement. I was thinking maybe the actor and producers had some bad ju-ju and this was their final "fuck you", but I found this interview and it sounds like it was just part of the process of the show.

Spoiler Interview if you are not keeping up. But hurry up! I want to discuss this openly, damnit! We should add a "spoilers" tag to the title of this thread!

I binged 5 episodes of Punisher last night and enjoyed it thoroughly. I'm at the hunt camp now for the week, so the rest will have to wait until I get back.

As for The Blacklist, it was a shocker for sure. Now no spoilers this week fuckers. ;)

I started watching 'Futureman' on Hulu this weekend and I'm really enjoying it.

Not perfect by any means but a really funny take on what the reality of a lot of our video game and sci-fi tropes would look like. The two future video game characters are hilarious. If you play video games I think you'll find it really funny.

I'm on episode 6 of the punisher, I stayed up way too late last night watching it and rolled into work bleary eyed and almost called fuck this shit o'clock at 0745 so I could go home and watch some more.

It's a good series, Jon Bernthal captures the rage pretty well as far as I'm concerned.

I just finished up the group therapy scene in the Punisher's first episode. You look at the young guy and the dude in the NRA hat....and one can lead to the other, just as one can lead to a Che t-shirt wearing dude. Black discontent, white discontent, veteran discontent....it leads somewhere. I thought it was a great scene. You can take it as anti-whatever, but people don't become alt-crazy overnight. Our country is slowly radicalizing along party lines, and a vet's gripe isn't always different from the gripes of others. When someone doesn't feel like they belong in their own country, they will slide to an extreme given enough time and alienation.

Moving past that, so far, so good with the Punisher in episode 1.

I'm working on episode three of "Punisher". I think Jon Bernthal is a serious actor. But I also feel he's not quite there yet, professionally.
Fuck it.
I found him annoying in "the walking dead" playing a composite version of a southern boy. The mannerisms. In the beginning of episode 3 of "Punisher", questioning Micro, legs apart, back straight in his chair, head shakes, eyebrows up and down, like about 100 interpretations of southern tough guys in movies.
By the way, I think DeNiro fucked it up too in "Cape Fear", and he's got more acting bones than Bernthal. From the looks of it, Hollywood confuses single mindedness with the pursuit of self gratification or simple mindedness. They are not the same. I hope Bernthal gets the role he deserves to really launch, but "Punisher" isn't it. To me, he comes across as a smart kid from a sheltered upbringing in a Jewish family with tough boxer looks. Kind of.

They should have gotten an Aussie to do it.
