I miss this show. Yes, there was always an "agenda" to some of his speeches, but it was brilliant TV.
The scene where he yells at God in the church is one of the most powerful ever.

I started rewatching it again last month. That's some good TV, excellent writing.

As a huge LOTR nerd, I'm somewhat apprehensive of this. On one hand it's a new addition to the universe that I love so much taking place before the trilogy (Silmarillion anyone?) and I'm genuinely excited for that. However I'm worried that it's going to turn out the same way as The Hobbit did or it doesn't translate well to a TV format.

Agreed, first episode was really good and I like John Bernthal. The only thing that bugged me so far is the stereotypical white male in the NRA hat at the support group...come on writers, he was actually distracting.

Oh no you don't good sir! I am not going down that rabbit hole with you other than to say this...you and I both know "that guy", and we both likely find him embarrassing for the same reasons. Only in your case I envision you thinking, "Yep. Typical Trump supporter, they got that character down perfect!" While I see the same guy and think, "sigh...get off my side, man."

Tempting as it is, I am not going to binge this show. Want it to last for a while.
 
Started watching that Secrets of the SAS documentary on Netflix. It has former troopers talking about declassified operations, and kind of a general overview of what life was like in the SAS. The mission footage is a mix of actual footage and re-enactments. I am unclear on the veracity of the show, but the first episode was good, and it seems legit. The guys who elected to be a part of it are very matter of fact, and open about struggles they faced both before and after making it into the SAS. I didn't get any sort of sense of embellishment or arrogance.
