My Random TV Thread

Helena Bonham-Carter has been the only failure for mine. She clomps around the set with the grace of a particularly clumsy Clydesdale. I was often wondering if she was portraying a princess or doing an impersonation of a blindeside flanker or number 8.

She's had a decent scene or two, but overall is underwhelming.

I don't know what it is about Love Island...but I feel like I'm 22 and back in OBC watching idiotic shit. How can I be 22 again and redo my Auburn trips? Oh, people are fucking dumb man.

Go into any rugby team's hotel rooms in the middle of camp in the summer and they're watching love island, definitely magic kit.

Definitely the blindside, very Haskell like, like 30 yellow cards in international play type shit.

I just finished The Crown Season 3. The season started strong and had some great moments, but it wasn't as good as the first two. The episodes seemed to be a bit disjointed, almost standalone at times, rather than part of a cohesive narrative. The cast is outstanding even if Helena Bonham Carter's Princess Margaret is bit underwhelming. Charles Dance as Mountbatten is freaking epic. Whoever found the actor for Prince Charles deserves a raise.

This season was the weakest of the three, but it is still better than 99% of the series out there.

I loved it! My bad boy from 'Outlander' killed it as Prince Phillip. The episode about the coal mine was just devastating...

I agree about being disjointed. They did take some historical liberties by mashing timelines and events here and there. I think this season is more character-driven, we seem to see more about the royals' character. I think 'Moondust' has been my favorite episode so far (we're at 9), the deep-dive into Philip has been great, and Menzies is fabulous. Charles? Same way, utterly fantastic, but he is coming across as a moody, brooding bitch-boy. I wonder how true to form that is?

I read an article yesterday that Erin Doherty (Anne) had to work for weeks at Anne's voice, it is so deep and inflective. She studies hours of period interviews with Anne to get it right.

I love watch Larry David - he has a genious wit and is makes a lot of very valid points - he just has a disjointed way of communicating with people. In fact, I think Larry David is currently polling at 22% among college students in his run for president.
A CNN poll has him at 17% overall - behind Joe Bidens 28% and still edging out Liz Warrens 14%

...or maybe that was Bernie Sanders - I'm not sure - I dont think it matters either way -they're basically the same guy.

Charles Dance is great in everything but I keep expecting him to get hit with a cross-bow bolt. Tobias Menzies as Prince Phillip is spot on...and I thought Josh O'Conner as the young Prince Charles was pretty good too.

But the episode with Helena Bonham Carter and her doofus BoyToy was 58 minutes I'll never get back.
