I understand the policy, but, yeah...fuck that. Appeasement is not the answer and the idea that insurance will just cover is it wrong as well. It impacts pricing for all consumers.

At the same time, I understand the need for employee safety. The isn't a priority call for most law enforcement either.

I don't have the answer, but Lulu's response definitely isn't it.

If you fire employees who attempt to defend your stores, that's morally wrong. I get why you would train them to avoid confrontation. But firing employees who are attempting to protect their store by reporting the shop lifting to the police is just disgusting. That's a horrible policy to have. However, they're a limp dick Canadian company. My lady walked into a Lululemon store today, I followed, went to the sale rack. Not an item under $70. Perhaps Lululemon should invest in armed guards instead of this nonsense.

I posted about policies like this in the leadership thread. I often express my opinion on policies I disagree with at work, but in the end, its not my company and its my job to adhere to and to enforce THEIR policies. Its my choice to continue to work there or not. If it comes down to risk of life or limb, then THEIR policies can fuck off.

Not to mention, in some jurisdictions the company also could face successful legal action against them by the thieves if the employees harmed (much less killed) either of them during their escape attempt, depending on the circumstances.

We don't need more cops. We need societal acceptance on new sentencing laws. Gang violence/murder...hanging. Armed bobbery...hanging. Your kid under 18 years commits a violent crime...then you're just as guilty. Have a grossly overweight kid...child abuse. Your kid fails to graduate because you didn't take an active role in parenting...child abuse. The list goes on. Still not sure why we keep people in prison when they're in for life with no possibility of parole.

He is from Seattle and really hates it now, hates what it has become. He has been trying to get a posting in a different part of the state to get out of it. Philly is a fucking war zone. Some of you know, I'm born and raised there. I trained as a paramedic student in Philly. I left for the Army in 94, my folks exfil'd in 96.

There's always been major issues in the city but these days, it's fucking crazy.

My wife has family in one of the most notoriously dangerous sections of the city (Kensington/North Philly). Occasionally, we go down (we live less than 10 miles north) and it's always a fucking adventure.

I work for a municipal agency on the border with Northwest Philly, lots of shit spills over to our side.

If I could exfil this AO to the ozarks, if Maria said yes, we'd be gone. Fuck this entire area, let it burn.
