I am currently in Charlotte NC trying to prepare myself for SFRE and SFAS. I know it will possibly be a while before I even try out, just started RSP, but you know the saying Prior Planning Prevent Piss Poor Performance. I currently do the SOFWODs, Weight Train (poorly), Run, and follow a core workout plan. I also do Tibetan rites ( yoga) and meditate to make sure I am mentally prepared. I still don't feel prepared and preparation is taking at least four hour days at the gym but I am committed to doing my best, pass or fail, to make it to selection, hopefully Q, and on to the team. I am looking for some training guidance. What can I do to improve my training and cut time? I saw a video posted on here a while back by goon, where there was a guy in the background attempting to do squats but failing to use proper form to benefit from the exercise, that is how I currently feel.

A bit of a side note I started out extremely above weight, 5'11 250lbs. with 26% body fat, so I feel I have to work myself extra hard to get to where I need to be. Its been since January and I am now 205lbs, with 15% body fat.

Quite a bit of material on here. Search button will lead you there.

I meant to say after learning of his injuries and recovery made me fear that he may actually out run me, and that I better train harder. He is a member of the US Army Special Forces, and seems to be super human from what I've read about him.

I wouldn't put anything past him from the way you all speak of him.

MK, if you have 1/4 of the drive, 1/10 of the heart, and even a smidgeon of the dedication, Honor, Integrity and sense of Duty that my brother Surgicalcric has, you will do well in life and might just make it into SF. that's no bullshit, its proven.

Don't overthink what you have to do, do it, dig into that reserve that you don't even know is there and get to the goal - then be prepared to keep doing that until you are somewhere safe. That is one of the things that puts SF, PJs, SEALs, Rangers, and any other Special OPs guy into a different class than most people... it's that simple, and it's that hard at the same time.

Understood and I will take that to heart sir.

Hell, I am starting to fear myself...lol

In all seriousness M_K, it isn't that difficult but it does take a mixture of the things my Brother x SF med previously noted.

DO NOT show up out of shape. In so doing you have displayed a lack of motivation/drive and you won't be asked to return and try again.

Not super human, though I have been told by a surgeon or two that I was built from Unobtainium. What I am is truly dedicated not to give in to giving up.

Fear is the mind killer. You cannot be truly Dorsai if you fear yourself, and you are in that group of true Dorsai I have met.
And you were made from YoucantfuckingkillmeuntilIsayyoucankillmetainium... You figured that out... "Fuck You, NO" ...

MK... should you have what it takes to earn the title SF Soldier be prepared to do whatever is asked of you, and trust me on this, there will be things asked of you that you will never, ever, in your wildest dreams expect, and they will scare the shit out of you, and they will be very rewarding, and you will not realize that other people will never understand why you did what was asked, but you will never question your own reasons for accepting a challenge.

Shit, some people understand what I'm trying to say here... but it's hard to explain.

Shakespeare said it well, in Henry V:

...
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.
...

and the Bible, in John 15:13

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

and may I suggest reading "the Tactics of Mistake" by Gordon R. Dickson - and possibly the entire Childe Cycle, with most attention paid to the Dorsai novels.
