True story (civ, not mil):
My bus gets dispatched to some classroom building at UNC-CH for 'accidental injury.' Common dispatch complaint, could be anything, usually non-life-threatening. Get to the patient, it was an older guy, a maintenance worker, who had been standing on a wooden chair to replace an overhead light, the back rest of which was not attached. But even so the two vertical wooden posts to which the back rest attaches were still on. This guy fell perfectly backwards and one of those wooden posts perfectly impaled his anus/rectum. We used a hacksaw the guy had in his work bag, transported him left lat recumbent. He took about 8" of that post, and according to the doc later, had no damage.
