Former Army crew chief/door gunner here. Served in Gulf War 1 with the 1st Air Cav. Also TDY to Panama for 90 days before that.
Ended up becoming an airline pilot later in life. Spend lots of time on the water and shooting with friends.
I stumbled across the thread about LT Gen Scott Howell and wanted to comment on it.
I was his crew chief in the Gulf War. He was an LT at the time on loan to us (1st Air Cav) from the Air Force.
We spent a lot of time together in that desert.
He’s a good man and a good pilot.
