Podcasts.

Disagree.

The fact that he gives the cock roaches air time shows his willingness to listen to opposing views, as nasty as they be.

I do wish he would have not been as lite with Newsom as he was but it is what it is.

I gotta be honest. I'd like to see him interview Obama or Clinton. Lol
Shawn Ryan is a cockroach.

In regards to Shawn Ryan:

He's a sober, Evangelical* version of Joe Rogan. Both are decent conversationalists but bad interviewers. They both lack the ability to actually push back on a guest with whom they disagree. Rogan asks a few questions and says "wow", Ryan does the same and says "no shit".

I think Ryan is decent when he has military/LEO/FEDs on. He loses me when he has on weirdos like the chick who said non-verbal autistics have psychic powers. He's totally unequipped to conduct a confrontational interview with someone like Newsom or Biden.

*I don't know if Shawn identifies as Evangelical, but his (relatively recent) actions remind me of that.

When did Shawn Ryan abstain from alcohol?

At this point Shawn just needs to go work at a Grocery store. No credibility and showing he's a dirtbag who just does things for clicks and wants to sound like he comes from a place of moral higher ground or something. He's the white Ryan Clark.
I understand your attitude toward a lot of "Vet bros." I've quit watching them for the most part, but don't really understand your problem with Shawn Ryan. He's one of the few that listens and actually allows his guest to do most of the talking. He also branches out to more than just "Vet bro" guests.

Crenshaw, yeah he needs to be primaried for sure.

Perhaps this is all recency bias for myself, as he built a platform that was relatively focused and did well discussing things that are 20+ years old. I don't like the attempt at some perceived high ground as in my view he's chosen to chase clicks now. Platforming Newsom, Biden, and Carlson for what exactly?

Ryan isn't Rogan. Newsom could go on Rogan and I wouldn't think twice. Newsom did it as part of his self rebrand to appeal to MEN as he gears up for his presidential run, nothing more. And he's a scumbag, horrible governor that has helped destroy my home state and made it quite unliveable. So why? Dunno. Just kinda over the whole podcast industrial complex at this point.

And if anyone thinks I'm in a Fox News talk silo, I'm not, although my father in law is. News? Generally the mainline sources, I hate the NYT but I'll read it. Same with the WaPo.

It's a business, the clicks are money that pays him and his employees. Most of the people he interviews are requests from his Patreon community.

This is the latest episode of "Five Questions for a General," which features retired GEN Joe Votel. GEN Votel commanded the Ranger Regiment, JSOC, SOCOM, and CENTCOM. That's... a pretty good resume'. ;)

When I was in JSOC, then-BG Votel encouraged me to apply to teach in the Department of Social Sciences at West Point, and wrote me a letter that helped me eventually get there. Many years later, he was also the featured speaker for our big annual conference for the Peace and Dialogue Leadership Initiative, a Yale/West Point partnership that I've been involved in for the past 10 years.

He did a lot of very important things in the Army, and I've always appreciated his insights and his willingness to invest his time in developing the next generations of US decision-makers, both military and civilian.

If these dudes could just eat each other out of the public light, it would be great. But perhaps this is how we end the Navy Seal fame industrial complex.

Crenshaw has problems with a lot of people. The common denominator is always Crenshaw. He's a fellow veteran, so I just hope he gets the help I think needs.
