Super Sweet Movie Discussion Thread

Jojo Rabbit...better than Inglorious Basterds? Can't compare? Apples and oranges?

I want to see Knives Out and Joker but haven't yet.

Don't know if this analogy works, but Inglorious Basterds is like a 20 year single malt, and JoJo Rabbit is that great everyday whiskey that is always a mainstay in the home bar. I greatly enjoy both but I'd rewatch JoJo more than Basterds.

Knives Out and Joker are both fantastic, each for seperate reasons. Joaquin Phoenix is the best Joker tied with Ledger, and Knives Out is just a fun story that leaves you guessing until the very end.

Has anyone here seen this yet?

I have not and, to be honest, I'm a bit apprehensive to do so because... Hollywood.

The lack of discussion around it only serves to reinforce that apprehension.
So- I was lucky enough to attend this premier in Pitts’ home town of Piqua, Ohio. I met some of the soldiers he saved and heard the story of that day- which is absolutely insane.

I loved the movie, but I’m obviously biased. If you’re looking for a ‘Black Hawk Down’ sort of movie (all action) you’re in the wrong place; this movie does an amazing job of telling the true story of Pitts and the fight to get him the MOH 52 years after the event. Think courtroom suspense with a side of action (they depict the battle Operation Abilene pretty well).

All in all- if you’re connected to the story in any way, or want to see Samuel L JACKSON turn in a hell of a performance (Sebastian Stan too) then go right now. It’s worth it.

Thanks for the feedback. That's what I'm looking for.

I know Pitts' story. Not looking for "Black Hawk Down" but not looking for "Lone Survivor" either. I just want the story, however it's told, to do right by him. Reviews are average and I simply haven't spoken to anyone/heard from anyone that's seen it.

Was going to check out The Last Full Measure this afternoon but doesn't look to be playing anywhere near me. Was this a limited release or is it out of theaters already?

Birds of Prey, aka Harley Quinn movie.

Very predictable throughout. Enjoyable at points. Harley never wears the spandex shorts.

I think it's worth watching, but I wouldn't do so in the theater. The previews gave a lot away. Sadly, it's a DC movie similar to Suicide Squad, just with R rated language. 5/10

I haven't watched it yet due to the fact the previews made it look extremely boring. Would you say it's worth seeing on a $5 movie day?

Depends on how you get your movies outside of the theater.

5$, I could justify for entertainment value.

Based on your recommendation I'll see it. I must confess I cringed a bit when I saw that the late Peter Fonda was playing a Vietnam veteran...but I won't speak ill of the dead. (I loved his motorcycle in Easy Rider.)

For obvious reasons I have nothing but love for you guys in helos who come into hot LZs and get us TFO when we're wounded. In my case it was an Army Huey crew from 236th Medical Detachment, Red Beach, Danang.

Yeah so F9 you got me.....the second I saw Charlize Theron I was like here's my moneys!!!!!!

Also...Jordana and Michelle yes!!!!!!

8-) O_o :thumbsup: ;-):-o:zzz:

The series is so trashy and stupid I can't help but watch that mess. I do wish Michelle R. would go to another planet or something. In a series with horrible acting, she stands atop the pile.

You take that sacrilege back.

If I wanted to watch a woman snarl through a movie I'd find one with a Glasgow smile and feed her lemons. Michelle Rodriguez is talentless and the eye-candy version of candy corn.

Talent = Nickelback = 0
Talent in FF series = Worse than Tyrese = 0
Personality = A blank sheet of paper = 0
Looks = Southern US roadkill = 2
Looks in a tank top, neck down = I'm onboard = 8
Voice = Too dead for radio = 0

Out of 60 possible points in the tailored-to-Michelle Rodriguez scale, 10/60.

Group think is a bad way to conduct business. And what I mean by that is, I'm through with standing in lines for clubs I'll never get in...
