The Trump Presidency 2.0

IDK who is saying that, but certainly not me. This statement from Elon only cements my feelings about Elon- he truly cares about America and wants what's best for her. He sacrificed billions of dollars, suffered his own character assassination and paid a real personal price for the country and DOGE.

I wasn't speaking to specific people but generalizing because I've seen the great American or similar statements scattered around the net and social media. Elon's great when he supported Trump, but now that they are at odds Elon's (insert cynical personal attacks here). To be fair, these same people probably cheered Trump "stacking" the Supreme Court and then lost their shit when those justices didn't support his decisions 100% as we've seen with some recent rulings. Weird, it's almost as if the Supreme Court cares about the law.

ETA- Your bolded is simultaneously the best and worst thing about the Republican party- they have bloody primaries, have real and substantive infighting, coalesce into factions that are at odds with each other- the left doesn't really do that. The get a narrative and march out in lockstep.

I'm gonna slightly disagree with the end of your statement here. The "left" is much more fractured than the right, but to the point that very rarely do any of those factions gain power. This leads to a party that can't function because there's no "push-pull" to make it do anything other than performative tasks.

The right will Balkanize but all together still be "conservative".

The left will do what this Emo Philips joke highlights, which means only "party line" get in.

I've found that these same people often forget, or don't know, that attorneys argue before the SCOTUS judges and that stupid mistakes can ruin your case for you, even if the judges would have most likely otherwise been sympathetic to your argument.

Is this why all Dems vote in lockstep (literally 100%) against everything the other party does with very few notable exceptions? While the right (with a majority in Congress) constantly has to whip votes to do anything because 5-8 folks consistently vote against Republican bills? Looking at you, Massie and Rand Paul. For the record, I appreciate their voting record in principle, not in practice.

"The left" has been consistently dragged further to the left by these small factions and rarely (SUPER rarely) do you see the sort of infighting amongst those factions you do on the right. When someone dares speak up, they enjoy the same attacks usually reserved for conservatives, it happens so often I don't even need to post links, I have 40 posts on this thread for when it's happened.

Why is AOC the perceived leader of the Dems? Why are Temu Obama and the "old guard" of Pelosi, Schiff, Sanders et al trying desperately to reign the likes of the Squad and others? Yet when it comes time, all those folks are told how to vote and do so en masse?

Think my point might have been misunderstood. I'm talking about the overall groups that make up the left in society eating their young, which results in lockstepping for those elected.

I actually think you bringing up AOC+the squad is a great comparison point. That's the only "breakaway" group I can think of within the Dems in my adult life.

The DSA/Green/other leftists supporters/candidates often view "Dem" as a bad word, so they break off and essentially become nothing but mosquitoes. Those factions are crabs in a bucket, so they never rise to a level where it's even noticed.

The GOP has a bunch of factions that will infight, but almost all of those are still accepted as "Republican". Continuing the animal analogy; The GOP actually embodies their elephant, since factions get to vie for control.

Ironically, the GOP is less "conservative" in the fact that factions can actually grow, develop, and gain political power. They will adapt to change in political environment, whereas the Dems take years to turn the ship, if at all.

ETA: I firmly think that the back and forth of the GOP factions fighting is healthier for a party than whatever elected Dems do.

Ok, gotcha, I don't necesarily disagree.

Given the fact that many of our fellow Americans are morons, it's not surprising that the biggest, loudest media whores of the Democratic party are considered the leaders.
What?! It's not like we have a long history of electing actors and reality show hosts and bodybuilders to office or anything...

Jake Tapper, meet your competition in the "Who is the Biggest Fucking Hypocrite" Olympics:

Karine Jean-Pierre, Biden's White House press secretary, says she's no longer a Democrat

Washington — Karine Jean-Pierre, who was the White House press secretary under former President Joe Biden, is no longer a Democrat, according to her publisher's summary of her upcoming book, "Independent."

A blurb by the publisher, the Hachette Book Group, says Jean-Pierre "didn't come to her decision to be an Independent lightly," and goes on to say that she "defines what it means to be part of the growing percentage of our fractured electorate that is Independent, why it can be worthwhile to carve a political space more loyal to personal beliefs than a party affiliation and what questions you need to ask yourself to determine where you fit politically."

The summary indicates that Jean-Pierre, a longtime Democrat who also worked for former President Barack Obama's administration and his presidential campaign, grew disillusioned with the party over its efforts to pressure Biden to drop his reelection bid last year.

"She takes us through the three weeks that led to Biden's abandoning his bid for a second term and the betrayal by the Democratic Party that led to his decision," the Hachette summary says. In her book, Jean-Pierre "shares why Americans must step beyond party lines to embrace life as Independents."

You can't make up this shit. Once again, Dems have no fucking clue as to what they are doing, why, and the repercussions. Utterly clueless.

I have been super busy at work today and saw this, physically rage-vomited, and went on with my life.

The lion, the witch, and the AUDACITY of KJP. I'll say something nice- that chick is like 51. Skin care routine on point.

I just read a story about that. It seems she's DXing the Dems not because of the actual Joe Biden scandal (which she helped cover up FOR YEARS) but because the party turned on Joe.

That's even crazier lmao. If Joe had said from the get go "I'm a 1-term President" the Dems might have had a chance.

At the rate they're going, they'll have Sanders, Pelosi, Waters, and Blumenthal as the candidates in '28. (The DNC will still try to screw over Bernie.)

I don't think it would have made much of a difference. The left managed to fuck up the entire country so badly in such a short period of time, I don't think him admitting he was a one-and-done would have helped the Dems. The Democratic Party managed to make things BadEnough(tm) to make people think Donald Trump 2.0 was better than literally anything they could have put up after Biden (and certainly what they did end up putting up... Kamala Harris?? lol).

Which is just as bad IMO. They turned on Joe, a guy who was CLEARLY suffering from dementia at a minimum, because they knew he was alosing proposition. She covered for Biden and then became when her party addressed the issue?

She's utterly clueless, no SA, just like her old party. "Independent" my ass, she will always be a straight ticket Democrat. This is to sell books, this is to put her name back on the map for half of a news cycle.

The ENTIRE Democrat party needs to own the Biden scandal. The entire MSM needs to own the Biden scandal. A scandal that is arguably criminal in nature, even if you "only" charged people with crimes against an elderly person.

I can't wait for the next Biden whatever, Congressperson, media whore to come out with their Jake Tapper, KJP moment. If THAT is their plan to turn around the Democratic party and reconnect with voters, it will be as successful as Kamala's bid for the WH.

And they are currently 83, 85, 86, and 79 (a spring chicken!) respectively. Trump or not, the American people are getting tired of both parties trotting out someone who will be closer to 80 than 70 at the end of 4 years. How much longer will we go before the job's stress kills a sitting president?

If anyone had actually listened - Joe Biden very much DID say he was a one and done president. There were several times when he said he fully planned to run twice - "unless"
...and he said that "unless" part quite a few times when he made his first run.
"unless" he gets sick
unless "something" happens
unless there is a change in the landscape
etc etc

Humans LOVE to hear what they want to hear.
If we are at a party and my wife says "if you drink another cocktail you're not getting laid when we get home"
...what I hear is "drink another cocktail - you're getting laid when we get home"
...then I get mad when she gives me the cold shoulder later on

The democrats (even that mindless corrupt fucking puppet formerly knowns as '46) ALWAYS say the quiet part out loud.
It doesnt matter though because 40% of the electorate will ALWAYS vote for them because they only hear what they are told to hear.
The left LOVES saying the 'quiet part' out loud because they simply cannot resist putting it in your face.
It's like a drug- and fuck you - I like my drug.
Suck it America - we are the leftist government.
We are democrats - we are legion.
Suck our dicks.

I think you're right. They hired her because of what she was, not what she could do... which isn't much. She's probably mad that she didn't immediately land a spot on MSNBC and/or The View or whatever. It's a testament to how toxic she is as a public speaker, and most likely as a human being, that even the usual suspects aren't willing to bring her on. As others have said, this could be her reach for relevancy.

Or, maybe, she had an awaking and was like, "Nah, fuck all y'all, I'm out." But I suspect it was more like the former.
