You know damn well title 10 can't police. So Trump is going to do some federal policing in DC? We feeel good about this federal government reach into local matters, when he is also threatening to do it in other major cities? Military patrolling in a major city? Everyone thinks this will go well right?

Compare the murder rate in DC to other Capitols. We should be ashamed.
Of course we do.So Trump is going to do some federal policing in DC? We feeel good about this federal government reach into local matters, when he is also threatening to do it in other major cities? Military patrolling in a major city? Everyone thinks this will go well right?
Doesn't NYC already use the NYNG to patrol their streets and mostly the train stations? What makes that any lesser evil than when a President does it in cities we no longer feel safe in?So Trump is going to do some federal policing in DC? The mere presence alone of Guardsmen patrolling the streets, "walking a beat", will deter crime. "They can't arrest people." So? They don't need to, they're sentinels, information gatherers, overhead ISR if that's allowed in the capital. Run up JLENS here and there...presence and information.
Dudes aren't running and gunning with a SAW or chucking flashbangs. Sheesh.
That's a really good point. But it's OK when blue cities do it, not OK for Orange Man Bad.Doesn't NYC already use the NYNG to patrol their streets and mostly the train stations? What makes that any lesser evil than when a President does it in cities we no longer feel safe in?
One standard. ONE! Either we are all in against the mil use fed or state controlled, or we are hypocrites. Pick one, you cannot have it both ways.

Information gathering for... "Force Protection" of course, not an intelligence activity because that would be illegal and force protection is an operations activity.

My bad. I forgot about the strength of the 4th Amendment and current protections it affords. Also, my apologies for not playing the word salad denial game and calling it all as it is, not how it is supposed to be. Whoops.
So after JAN 6th you were okay with it too? I don't condone what those retards had done but the aftermath was severely heavy handed and something actual tyrants do. It was without any doubt a bad precedent for bad things to be seen as.I mean I am fine with a state or city requesting it. I’m not ok with the federal government doing it. DC is different, as it is a federal district. There is nuance to everything.
The plan calls for 600 troops to be on standby at all times so they can deploy in as little as one hour, the documents say. They would be split into two groups of 300 and stationed at military bases in Alabama and Arizona, with purview of regions east and west of the Mississippi River, respectively.
The proposal being evaluated now would allow the president to mobilize troops and put them on Title 32 orders in a state experiencing unrest. The documents detailing the plan acknowledge the potential for political friction should the governor refuse to work with the Pentagon.
The proposal envisions a rotation of service members from Army and Air Force National Guard units based in multiple states. Those include Alabama, Arizona, California, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Tennessee, the documents say.
The 300 troops in each of the two headquarters’ locations would be outfitted with weapons and riot gear, the documents say. The first 100 would be ready to move within an hour, with the second and third waves ready to move within two and 12 hours notice, the documents note, or all immediately deployed when placed on high alert.
The quick-reaction teams would be on task for 90 days, the documents said, “to limit burnout.”
$25M? We have room for that in the budget after Doge deep-sixed NIH's landmark study- "the impact of structural racism and discrimination on health outcomes in minority communities." That was actually $27M, so we have some wiggle room for the DFAC.Putting this here because it seems to be more about political posturing than an actual thing.
National Guard plan would create military ‘reaction force’ for civil unrest
So a quarterly duty for 600 troops would be to go TDY and sit at a base as a "standby" option?
Hopefully they're somewhere with a DFAC, so they can feed them for the government rate of $2.8 million a year. If they've gotta get Per Diem that'll be (low end) $25 million. Thats just food, I'm not mathing out lodging or other associated costs.
I know it says T32, but there's no way this plan doesn't tax each state's already thinning budget.
Additionally, how do they get around soldiers from another state operating in a state that didn't request support? That's a huge quagmire to solve first.
All in all, it's probably just stupid grandstanding. I look forward to this becoming Jade Helm 2027
