The Trump Presidency 2.0

I put this in the DHS thread....but, here it is anyway. DHS has put ICE/ERO agents (GS-1801) at airports to assist TSA. They are walking around with plate carriers on....but, at least not wearing masks.

Crazy times
Good, I guess. Although, I'm not really sure what they're expected to do. Are ICE agents conducting the screening at security checkpoints?

probably serving as QRF for the Spirit Airlines counter ;)
Funniest possible response.

No, they're providing political pressure via optics to get the democrats to fund TSA and stop the liberal meltdown at airports, which is much more corrosive to the left than it is to the right.

The right doesn't care about ICE at airports, most of them will happily cheer it on to "own the libs". The left has already screamed at the top of their lungs about the gestapo at the airports (BlueAnon going crazy rn), so ICE is simply there to provide the proper motivation to the left base to frantically harangue Jeffries to do anything he can to get the Nazis outta Austin's airport.

That's their function.

I'm trying to understand how TSA was excluded from the last round of funding, but as I said earlier in this thread. The Republicans have the votes. Time to vote in lockstep until the end of your term, idiots.

Ruben's ex wife, the Mayor of Phoenix, put out a statement saying TSA is trained in airport security, why are you deploying amateurs. Well Madame Gallego, call Mark Kelly and Ruben up and tell them to vote on the TSA funding instead of putting nonsensical statements.

Q:
why are you deploying amateurs

A:
because it doesn't take a genius to rifle through someone's overnight bag while periodically declaring, "Bullshit, contraband, Throw it on the Table !!"

Unfortunately, I think there will be a blue wave in the upcoming elections.

I said this last year and was dismissed. That's fine and all, but people who want to only see the positive in situations are rarely equipped to deal with the negative.

At any rate, that ties in to a point so many of us have made which is the GOP's lack of purpose and inability/ unwillingness (cowardice) to make laws. They are sitting back and allowing Trump to rule via EO than standing up and supporting him through meaningful bills in the House and Senate. Like too many Congress' before this one they will fritter away their majority.

All the more reason to fire every single incumbent. Vote them out, put new blood from our party in office because it is painfully clear the current crop of "representation" does not represent the people.

Congress never actually represents "we the people" beyond their first term because government is a disease.

Healthy people and decent upright citizens look at what's going on and decide that something needs to be done.
They campaign.
They make promises.
They develop a strategy.
They want to get rid of the nasty.

Then they get elected.
They see how quick the "campaign fund" builds.
They are treated to "fundraisers".
They are courted by lobbyists.
They realize that they don't have to suffer the same broken healthcare program as the peasants.
They realize that other peoples tax money can be used to lawyer their way out of a jam.
They realize that the same stock trading that put Martha Stewart in jail is encouraged when you are part of the congress.
...and here is a good bit of knowledge that very few knew before, folks that used to call me a conspiracy nut:
...then, our congresspersons learn about all of the corporate perks.
...and by then, they are infected too.
...and there is no cure.

I have some old 'pre-Army' friends from my home town that just "learned" that YES politicians DO in fact, get corporate perks...
...and they've NEVER believed me, until Delta released a statement that they were cutting off some of those "perks" to congress
...at least until congress reopens the government so the Airlines can go back to making huge profits.

Government is a disease.
People should get used to accepting that outcome.

Were you? Feel free to fact check me. But Trump was elected with a "Mandate" when Republicans won the national and retained both houses of Congress. And then the Republicans have wasted all of it because unfortunately or fortunately this party is a big tent. But being a big tent and disorganized as a RUBA clusterfuck means you fail to accomplish and Agenda. A lesson already learned by the Democrats. Even when they were in the minority party the opposition to the Obama agenda was disorganized as fuck. Some of these idiots couldn't find a glory hole if you inserted it for them.

But, here's the question, even if Republicans are failing to push forward as voters asked them to (and they are failing) and Trump isn't delivering on all his campaign promises (which he's not), why would you vote for a Democrat instead?

Does anyone really believe a Harris/Walz ticket or any other Democrat is a better move?

That's absurd to me.

I'm not for another quagmire, at all. But I will not vote for a Democrat.

It's not so much the partisan quagmire - the partisan quagmire will NEVER go away.

I'm just the kind of guy that likes to know which of type of predator is most likely to attack me while I'm stuck in the quagmire. I just figure if I'm going to get pulled under by a backstabbing predator, I could hang around the part of the swamp where I can hedge my bets on WHICH predator is going to fuck me over.
Call it morbid curiosity.

I mean lets call it like it is - I support the party that has republicans like Richard Burr and Pierre Delecto and Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski - even "war heroes" like John McCain and that guy with the eye patch - of COURSE I worry about getting fucked over by the people I vote for.
It's the political equivalent of battered spouse syndrome.
...but like they say "MY BODY MY CHOICE"

Democrats are nasty and vile, and I won't willingly get fucked by a democrat.

It's all about choice.

Our bench is deep, brother. 😆

Bro...
...I'm going to take your "deep bench" metaphor and run with it.

Even the Philadelphia Phillies have a loyal fan base and a "deep bench"
Mike Schmidt
Grover Alexander
Steve Carlton
Robin Roberts
Dick Allen
Jim Kaat

Yet, they are still the LOSINGEST TEAM in MLB history. If you are from Philly - you love the home team - even though they suck.
A lot like republicans.

There are plenty of super stars - a list of Hall of Fame level performers.
But together, their team plays like shit. For the love of god, it took them 97 years to finally win a fucking World Series.
...and yet they still have the nerve to charge 15 bucks for a single hot dog and a plastic cup of warm, flat, Yuengling
...high maintenance
...low return on your investment
...but if you are from Philly, unless you want to drive a hundred miles to cheer for another team, you are stuck.

Sort of like being a republican.

Let's face it, our team fucking sucks
...but do you REALLY want to drive a hundred miles just root for the the Yankees, or the Mets?

No.
Of course you don't.
...because fuck New York.

Does anyone really believe a Harris/Walz ticket or any other Democrat is a better move?

I think the vast majority of voters don't believe anybody will do better, but they will vote against the party they think is doing bad.

Depending on the polls, roughly 35%-45% percent of voters identify as independents. They usually wind up splitting who they vote for, but getting enough of them to vote against the guy in charge can change elections, I.E. how Biden won.

Two years is a long time away, but an economy that sucks for young people/the middle class+(maybe) another quagmire in the middle east are gonna be hard to overcome.
