United States & Gun Control discussion.

Hell yeah

"When you can use it"

I had a coworker yesterday talk about the Castle Doctrine. He didn't know FL is a Stand Your Ground state. I told him a threat is a threat. There's no duty to retreat and you don't have to be in your home. Tell the responding officers you were in fear for your life and those around you, and then stop talking until you have a lawyer.

Wise words!!!

Folks forget the 5th amendment. STFU is always a prudent idea.

I have CCW Safe as self defense insurance, I carry a card on me that explains how I should proceed in case of a self defense event, the bolded letters, STOP TALKING UNTIL ATTORNEY PRESENT....

Even LEO shooting, our association lawyer responds and assist in writing the statement. We dont say shit without our lawyer there.

I learned that. What gets me though, maybe you can explain is that, LEOs, depending on region/dept has anywhere from 72 to 96 hours where they are NOT required to speak w/o an attorney, yet, civilians are not offered that aspect, is this accurate?

I know both LEO and civ, anything said w/o attorney can be held against you.

Yesterday the University of South Carolina was locked down for an active shooter.

It was a dude carrying an umbrella.

If carrying something long and black makes you think there's a weapon, then a certain genre of film can be classified as violence against women?

Idiots.

My 2A absolutist self has no idea how to parse this story out.

You have a population that commits the most per-capita mass shootings in the last 10 years, and the sole defining characteristic of that cohort is a mental health issue. You're not allowed to admit you take legal THC on a form to buy a gun; you can't be a felon.

The problem here is twofold; I disagree with the above restrictions out of hand. All gun laws are infringements, period. I understand the reasoning for the restrictions, I just tend to disagree.

For someone who was born a dude but really believes they're a chick- absent a true mental health diagnosis- how TF are we saying they can't buy a gun, again? Where in the 2nd does it say "unless you take this medicine or hold this belief"? It's only 27 words long, maybe I missed it.
