I think this is true about a lot of things, and its intentional. If we can indoctrinate younger generations to believe that the old ways are bad and shame those who still believe in those things, it will (is)fundamentally change the country.

I read about that earlier. Completely mindless decision. "Gun crime is too high, so we're taking away people's ability to defend themselves!"

What's banning open and legal concealed carry going to do? I guess we could start with pulling the number of people with concealed carry permits who were the perpetrators of any of these recent gun crimes. I'm guessing the number is about... zero.

Yep. That's why these "public health emergencies" are so fraught. Anything can be a public health emergency, and apparently at least one politician thinks that a public health emergency is a license to strip rights away from citizens. It's bullshit.

This is a feeler for things to come. The response to this needs to be swift and overwhelming. She needs to face some kind of charges; I think an impeachment is the way to go for sure.

New Mexico Republican legislators call for Dem Gov. Grisham's impeachment after gun order: 'She's rogue'

Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif., weighed in on Grisham's executive order, saying it's unconstitutional.

"I support gun safety laws. However, this order from the Governor of New Mexico violates the U.S. Constitution. No state in the union can suspend the federal Constitution. There is no such thing as a state public health emergency exception to the U.S. Constitution," Lieu said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

David Hogg, who advocates for stricter gun laws, said on X "I support gun safety but there is no such thing as a state public health emergency exception to the U.S. Constitution."

So much to unpack in those quotes, but I'll take them at face value for now because I don't fell like rabbit holes, cynicism, and rambling at this early hour. A world where David Hogg says your gun control is illegal? I never thought I'd see that.
