Just started the new Mitch Rapp novel Lethal Agent. I’m hoping better than the last one but at this point since I’ve read all the others I’m pot committed to the series.

Looking forward to your review. I’ve not enjoyed the series since the death of Vince Flynn.

Just finished The British are Coming and can't wait for the next two books in the trilogy. Along with his WW2 trilogy, this puts Atkinson, IMO, right up there with Cornelius Ryan and Bruce Catton.

I am currently reading a book called Ghost Fleet. Which is about China invading Hawaii after they hijack our tech and use some secret macguffin to locate the USN nuclear subs and destroy them

Finished the Mitch Rapp book last night, I will struggle to want to read another one of these at this point. I am still undecided if I disliked the book so much that I respect someone had the balls to put that to paper or not.

I don't know if I have changed in what I want to read, or if the character development (all), dialogue, plot lines, etc has changed to just complete shit. I wanted to turn my brain off and read it, instead it became frustrating to read due to how wildly lazy the writing came off.

Book comes out 9/24/19.

Kyle Mills is a good author, I think he also writes the current Tom Clancy characters.

Vince Flynn was special; he made Mitch Rapp special.

I’m afraid Mitch died when Vince did.

Mitch Rapp as the one in the movie American Assassin?

Yes, the movie was terrible. That book was amazing. It is a prequel though, I highly recommend starting at the earlier books and working your way through to American Assassin.

Agreed, Vince was special. I just disliked this book, the character development and dialogue was poor for this one in my mind. Maybe you will have a different read on it, I hope so because I might go back over it on the final. The book seemed like it was a bit mailed in. The other side is the version I read is not the final copy, but compliments of the publisher/author so there are some things that will be cleaned up for the final version.

It is nothing against Mills as a writer, I think at some point in the franchise things change to what a publisher wants as well that will sell. I am sure this will sell well, I just think it has drifted materially from what I enjoyed early on.

Still piling through Behave by Robert Sapolsky

Also started Brief

and Steppenwolf by Herman Hesse

Good grief, I’m glad I quit drinking. Steppenwolf is going with me to see my therapist; it is heavy and brooding, intellectually stimulating but nearly overwhelming. I find I want to write down paragraphs at a time, screenshot them, or throw the book down as it seems to chronicle in the first 75 pages some of my adult life, pre- and post- sobriety.

If you like Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, you’ll enjoy this one.

I've read Siddharth by Hesse, more than once. And Zen and the Art of Archery by Herrigel...back when I was trying to purify my soul and stop self-medicating my PTSD.

Both books helped me refocus.
