You never read this in HS? OMG, this is a classic. It's right up there with Mark Twain's Letters from Earth, albeit much more sinister in tone.

I have something similar I was writing years ago but a dream scared the shit out of me and I stopped. I still have what I started though. It just ain't easy trying to think from that perspective.

Never read it, or the Twain book. Three I remember from HS were A Separate Peace, Wuthering Heights and A Tale of Two Cities.

LOL. Except painting doesn't give me nightmares and "visits" when I go to bed. I'll stick to painting for now. Someday I may get back to writing.

ETA: The books you mention are "classics" but not great reads. Best book I ever read was The Three Musketeers.

High Risk Soldier by Major Terron Wharton: Terron and I were classmates in college and we reconnected as I was transitioning out. Anyone who served in Iraq or Afghanistan should read his book, especially for its honesty. It's the first book I've read about the war since I got out and it took me back to those places, the sights, smells, the joes, all the memories good and bad. He does not embellish or sugarcoat anything, including a suicide attempt. It is brutal, true, and worth the one-day read. (Future Havok Journal review)

Just finished "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki. Good read for anyone who wants a kick in the rear about their finances. The "10 rules" and the P&L and Balance sheet charts are worth the book's cost. Get a used paperback copy.
