Reading through the Powder Mage Trilogy again, it's set in a fantasy Napoleonic themed environment where there are Gods, Priveliged (traditional magic users who can control the elements), and Powder Mages (people who can control gunpowder and bullets with their mind).

It's extremely entertaining and I almost always find myself envisioning what's occurring in the books.

Still wading through the 400,000+ audio/video/image/document files from the Abbotobad raid. In my spare time. Still haven't encountered UBLs burka porn.

Just finished Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, pretty awesome western taking place in the 1850s. Its fiction, but keeps a good pace, and is pretty ruthless.

Has to probably be my favorite book next to Atlas Shrugged.

Thats funny you say that, when the guy who recommended Blood Meridian to me asked for a recommendation, I gave him Atlas Shrugged. Ive only read it cover to cover once, but I've gone through and read different chapters multiple times throughout the years, depending on what i was needing to hear. d'Anconia still has some of my favorite lines.

Coincidences are abound right now, I think I've read it twice but like you I'll still go back through and reread certain parts that really stick with me. It's a toss up between d'Anconia and Rearden for me, overall it would probably have to be d'Anconia but as a character I could most identify with in certain aspects it would have to be Rearden.

Anyone have a good recommendation for a Putin bio? Or even a general study on the oligarchy of modern Russia?

At one point this summer, I saw that Netflix had a documentary on him and his rise to power. I don’t know if it’s still there but it may be useful to you.

Disclaimer: It may or may not be in Russian but will have subtitles

Jackie Stewart, Winning is not Enough.

Pimp level = 10. If you are even remotely into racing, go buy this book.

Do you mind sharing some cliff notes? Sir Stewart sounds like quite the character.

I don't follow F1 but recently started a doc series on Amazon about McLaren's team.

Yes. This is a fascinating book that looks into how exactly Putin came to be in power, when he wasn't exactly someone you would think of as running a country like Russia.

Thank for the recommendation, I ordered it on Amazon.
