Why guys leave special ops?

I don't know how it is today, but back in the 90's the Army higher ups (which snowballed down to the Bn CSM) wanted junior NCO's from Regiment to PCS to other Army units. I saw some move to Germany, Italy, Korea, Ranger School, Bragg, and Campbell. I was just married and didn't want to take the chance, so I moved on to college.

Yeah, Abrams Charter is only carried out through the Officers now. NCO's don't have to leave unless they want to or fail to meet standards. There are guys with over a decade in the same company right now.

At some point in your career everyone has to trade in their rifle for a desk. This is where a lot of guys punch out. It happens sooner for some than others but for the most part it's inevitable.

One of the nice things about doing my last tour in ANGLICO was this. I got to do all those leadership/MSgt/comm chief things, but because we are such a small unit, I got to do some of the LCpl stuff too.

I think some of you hit the nail on the head...lonely, tired of coming home to nothing but a bottle of beer, and an empty bed. It's hard to find some that understands, really understands what you go through and will accept it.
We not only have a " hard professional side", but also a soft loving side to share with "someone" special. Finally,
