Your 2024 Presidential Election Thread

I voted for Trump the first time around because simply, you must be out of your freaking minds if I would help that un American shrew. He was literally THE only choice we had. And I wasn't a fan of the guy but I had to do the right thing, the same as I did with not voting for Obama but instead for whom he was up against despite me not liking the two RINO's.

I didn't vote for him in his first election for two reasons. First, the things he did and said in the past did not reflect the kind of leader that I wanted.

And secondly, I believed the mainstream press that he had no chance of winning. I totally fell for it. I ignored all of the other evidence and believed what I was told, like a good little sheep. I wasn't going to vote for someone I didn't really want in the White House if he was going to lose in a landslide anyway to Hillary Clinton, whom "everyone" knew was going to win. I mean, it was her turn, after all.

So, I stayed home... which is exactly what the other side wanted. Trump won without my vote (and later lost with my vote, and later-later won with my vote).

I stopped listening to what the news was saying when I started seeing "live" broadcasts in 2003 in the TOC, half a day after the fact and not a rebroadcast. And of note, they cut out rather certain things that was in good light or supported the invasion.

To be fair, in 2016 Trump was a political unknown, and I am not sure too many people even in the GOP thought he had a snowball's chance in hell to beat HRC and The Machine.

Location matters. If you lived in my state, you may have thought differently. Trump hats and yard signs were everywhere and a lot of people here didn't see it that way. Maybe that's why he won.

There are very few states that are foregone conclusions. In my city any democrat nominee will out-sign the republican nominee 30:1. But go two counties away it's reversed. I know a lot of people wanted him to win, and voted for him (I did, and he won NC). But I am not sure the consensus was that he'd win the EC.

One, maybe two Roosevelts gave folks the option.
Are we forgetting the guy elected so many times an Ammendment was passed after he died?

FDR was elected 4 times.
There were a bunch of candidates who went up 3x.

Adams, Jefferson, George Clinton, Monroe, Jackson, Cleveland, WJ Bryan, Nixon, Reagan, and I've probably missed a few.

Did I see that Adam Schiff is resigning from the House to be be appointed to the junior senator seat in California?
He resigned from the House to be in the Senate, but won the election for Feinstein's seat. Schiff is a nasty human being. I can't believe Pelosi's endorsement carries such impact. 10 years ago...every Democrat I knew in his district hated the guy...but kept voting for him anyways.

Laphonza Butler had been serving in Feinstein's seat until a special election could be organized...and California chose to have the 2024 general election as the special election, so joins the 118th Congress as Senator on Monday.

This is exactly why I don't trust elections. Who in the fuck even votes for these clowns. Schiff is junk. He has been caught is so many lies as a congressman, but gets promoted to Senator?

Ok, so how do Democrats get away with shit like this.

She is such a God damned clown. She managed to dodge the question while also making the argument for anyone with a shred of intelligence. He was very clear about his thought process? He was and that's why people are asking you those questions.

She's a moron. I thought Jen Psaki was the worst press secretary possible and then KJP showed up to make Jen look vaguely competent in comparison.
