Absolutely. We had no real 'ownership'; that is, a lot of the NCOs didn't tell us what to do like the rest of the grunts and left us alone, we could scam better than the E4 Mafia, we were combination voodoo priests/wizards/academic geniuses/neurodivergent practitioners of dark arts. We could save lives, acquire food and booze, tell extremely dirty jokes, discuss the finer points of art history or geopolitics, and tell officers to go fuck themselves in a way that would have them asking us for directions.
