Gaming thread

I just picked up the Witcher III for PS4 the other day. It was a tough decision between that and Skyrim Remastered. I think I made the right choice. Lovin it so far!

I thought the game was harder than it should be early on, but it turned into a great game. It doesn't hit its stride until you make it to Novigrad (or whatever the second is in the game).

I agree. Did you get the Expansions? I managed to pick up Blood and Wine, definitely worth the price. Haven't played Hearts of Stone though.

Take it slow, Side Quests have whole minutes of story and cutscenes for the some seemingly small Contracts, and once you reach a certain point in the main story, some are no longer available. Good luck and have fun, it's a great game!:thumbsup:

I do, but without giving up anything to those who haven't finished the game, there are several endings and one is actually depressing. It kind of turned me off to playing the expansions but I'll get around to those one day. I'll echo the side quest advice. You'll need the XP, some of the rewards are good, and some tie into the story. It was rare for me to ignore a side quest, especially those hunting for Witcher gear. The one complaint, maybe it is a good thing, but if your level is too far beyond the quest's level, forget any XP. I think one "rewarded" me with 5 XP or something stupid.

I have it, but got stuck in the middle of one of the main storylines. I died in a place where the last save is inside the same story, but I'm not high enough level to get past the main boss. I still haven't figured out how to get out of it without starting over and losing about 20 hours of play time. After that, I just shelved the game.

Speaking of Andromeda, here's a site that will explain some of the backstory and you can even get an exclusive helmet by watching the briefings as they release.

A cinematic trailer released the other day, but it felt more like a movie trailer and the website I linked above made me (and lots of others) more excited for the game than the trailer.

A video showing some more gameplay is coming out December 1st.

I was something like a 34 when I finished the main storyline, The last boss required a bunch of diving and earning crits hitting him in the back. Dive, hit, hit, run, drink water/eat bread, close with and dive, hit, hit...I also had maxed out Witcher Gear with maxed out runes or whatever occupying the sockets.

I'm curious as to why you didn't care for it (BF1)? I was considering ordering it.... I refuse to buy the new COD just for the re-mastered COD:MW. I'm hoping they will re-master several and package them together eventually.

I just didn't like it. I thought the multiplayer was a bit clunky. Some of the contros were pretty burdensome. I am a licensed private pilot, and I could not fly the planes to save my life. The physics of flight disappointed me. Those are my major gripes. I will likely stick to BF4.

If you like that kind of thing, War Thunder has a realistic mode that almost requires a pilot's license to get off the ground (hint: you have to apply rudder to offset the torque from the prop). WWII era aircraft in that one.

That is a good game early on, but as you progress in the tech tree, I feel that the physics engine must break down at some point. Additionally, about half way through, you start getting matched with flyers that are way beyond your skill level and end up getting smoked constantly. That one was definitely a rage quit and delete. lol

I think that is too complicated a game for console controllers.

Most definitely. I use a PC with joystick, rudder pedals and the keyboard for inputs. On the other hand, the console version is "fly by wire" and point and shoot with NO physics applied other than basic control surface support

If I had all that I couldn't afford to actually fly...

BF1 - campaign was ridiculous. Tons of cut scenes intermingled with 10 minutes of action here or there. Take the cut scenes out and you've got about an hour of total play unless you get caught in a series of deaths that take you longer to get through.

Multiplayer - I'll reserve my judgement until I play it some more. So far it seems like you just die over and over to things you can't see. I do like the deathcam that shows you where that tank is that shot you through the side of a hill.

ETA - my longest time surviving in multiplayer so far is about 30 seconds

I was kind of hoping for ACTUAL trench warfare. Close contact. Low ammo. Chaotic melee rushes. I lost interest in the campaign. Plus siege just got an update.

Started playing "Dwarf Fortress":wall:. Trying to figure out the mechanics is slightly mind numbing, but in a fun way.:-/

When playing BF1 multiplayer you really need the stars to align to get a good team otherwise you need to take your time and move slower than say if your playing COD. It takes time to adjust and once you get an idea for the maps you know where cover is and where to scan for snipers and what not.

Speaking of BF1, this guy must've been going "Oh craaaaaaaappp".
