Hello all,

First of all, I’d like to say that I’m glad that I found this site. It’s a treasure trove of great information for those of us trying to learn.

I’m twenty six, I’ve been involved with EMS and Fire starting at seventeen. I’m currently working for a 911 ambulance service and volunteer for my town’s fire department.

I’m a little under two years away from the end of my contract with my current job and I’m interested in learning more about the Air Force’s Pararescue and SERE Specialist.

Welcome!

Mmmm, military medicine is all about frustrating prior medical people because old habits die hard. It’s a blessing and a curse though overall you’ll have the tiniest advantage if you stay humble about it. Or that is my experience, though the greatest thing you’ll get from it is critical thinking and able to stay so cool under pressure. It’s definitely something to carry with you.

I appreciate it!

To be honest, I don’t know anything about military medicine but I really enjoy learning and hopefully that’ll pay off crossing over.

Well, I had to find a way to get them to let me join the fire department after all. ;)

I appreciate it, I’m glad to be here!

One of my sister dept’s had a cool story. Chiefs son was settin fires and being first on scene for brownie points. Was the hero type. He got out of prison time unfortunately.

People like that need an ass kicking, I honestly don’t understand how someone could rationalize doing it.

There was an assistant Chief who was doing the same thing about 10 years ago and one of his fires killed a very close family friend and injured several others. It’s a unique betrayal knowing that a firefighter caused it.

Welcome. The paramedic I am today, I credit because of the military medicine/trauma management/occupational medicine, I learned as a young Paratrooper/line/evac medic, in the 90s.

I appreciate it.

I’ve had the opportunity to work with a few prior service paramedics. The ones I worked with were solid guys and great to have on chaotic scenes.
