Israel and Iran

Anyone who parrots Groyper talking points about Israel is someone who is not relevant to a conversation that requires grown ups and it's clear to me that we're better for it that he's not continuing to fail at his job.

In regards to promises you can't keep, I, don't. Every politician since Cleisthenes has failed to keep a campaign promise.

From Wiki:

Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is a pejorative term used to describe criticism of Donald Trump that is seen as irrational or disconnected from his actual policies. In practice, it is often used to dismiss criticism rather than respond to it.

Since World War II, the United States, with all our faults, has largely been the country the world could depend on to lead and ultimately do the right thing.

In less than two years, Trump has insulted our allies and questioned the value of NATO, often saying it has done nothing for the United States. He ignores the fact that after 9/11, aside from offering its joint military capabilities, NATO invoked Article 5 for the first time in its history. An attack on one member was treated as an attack on all.

We can “yeah but” or “what about” all we want, but the reality is that many around the world no longer see the United States as the clear leader of the free world. Instead they see a bully. A country using its strength to get what it wants, consequences be damned.

I voted for Trump the second time around primarily because he promised no more wars and an unfiltered release of the Epstein files. He has not delivered on either.

The upcoming mid season elections are very concerning to me, I think the Republican Party is going to be absolutely decimated at the polls, and when they do, I will point my finger directly at the current President of the United States for that.

Not necessarily for his actions, but more so the embarrassing way in which he executes those actions.

I offer a slightly different view on his social media. His posts are theatrical, designed to play into supporters and detractors alike. Frankly, there needs to be a better term for TDS because we see it on both sides: blind support for, or resistance to, anything the man does. Nuance? A middle road? Criticizing some actions but not others? You're (royal) immediately branded as RINO or accused by one side of TDS, by another of being a Fascist, and it is all. So. God .Damned. Tiring.

Theatricality plays into the feeble minds of the hardcore on both sides. It reinforces their opinions of the guy and Trump is no idiot. He knows what he is doing and the tone of those tweets is not an accident.

Nor is the substance and that's really the TLDR here. Pay attention to the what, not the how. The man is going to do his thing, there's no stopping that, so getting worked up is pointless. The substance. The meat. The policy. Dig into that and ignore the noise. Focus on the slideshow, not the borders and animation and attention grabbing but distracting graphics.

Don't make promises you can't keep. Also, this wasn't his first rodeo, he sat in the chair before. Its apparent he never wanted the Epstein files exposed and he's done what he can to edit or stop them from being released. You know more about Iran than Joe Kent? He says Iran was not necessary, and I agree. But you are certainly entitled to your view.

Here's how I see campaign 'promises'. Shit happens. I schedule a meeting for Thursday, I have the time open, I tell people to be there, but then my boss gives me a time sensitive urgent task and I have to cancel the meeting. Am I liar or unethical because things changed?

Some campaign promises are just pie-in-the-sky: debt free, money back from DOGE-related savings, etc. No new wars is a nice slogan but no president can guarantee that.

Respectfully disagree, he flat got elected because of these two campaign promises. He didn't miss a meeting. If you buy that Iran was an imminent threat to the US, sure. I dont buy it. A few months ago, we were told that we obliterated their capabilities. Our secretary of state said we are doing this because Israel. I'm not going to change anyone's mind, but its how I see it and there are a lot of smart people, to include the American majority who agree. I don't give a shit about Iran, but I think we should focus on America First. If you believe Iran is America First, thats fine.

First of all, I wasn't speaking specifically about Iran; I was speaking generally about the notion of 'campaign promises.'

Second, I don't think you set out to be condescending, but take a look at your last sentence and tell me that's not condescending. You are accusing anyone who thinks differently than you of not being smart? Maybe I am under-caffeinated, but that's how I read it.

I'm not aware of Israel actually denying they have a nuclear program, but rather they adhere to a policy of "nuclear opacity"; neither confirm nor deny. But, like you said, everyone "knows" they have one.

You're correct in that they haven't denied a program. I'll strike that comment. That's on me.

The problem remains that we have laws on the books regarding funding nuclear-armed nations. We can sidestep those for strategic/ national security reasons, but we're either going to finally acknowledge Israeli nukes or ignore them and I'm pretty sure we'll do the latter.

I put an extra teaspoon of whataboutism in my coffee this morning.

It seems the REAL villain in all of this is Trump - because "HE" is supposed to be different.
...even though every.single.solitary.president.and.presidential.candidate in the last 50 some odd years has made ALL of the same promises at some point and routinely make even LESS effort to meet ANY of them.

Trump however, the infantile jackass with an ego problem, is somehow the one that matters. Even though he is the only one that acts the exact same way while he is in office as he did when he was just an infantile egomaniac with a reality TV show.
...and to think how much better off we'd be with the constant stream of lying backstabbing disingenuous folks that have been gracing us with their service for the last 250 years.

HE is the one we are FINALLY going to hold accountable.
...and damn if it ain't about time to hold people accountable™.

I'm glad I'm overtly politically biased and socially brainwashed.
Life is a lot easier this way.

I didn't say that. In fact, I understand why people disagree and they are not wrong to feel that way. Just different priorities. I think some people believe Iran is a big enough threat and maybe consider this war to be in our best interest. Thats my point.

All good. Your point still remains in that Israel is kind of an interesting contradiction when it comes to nukes.

The way I recall, they never signed any of the treaties other nuclear powered countries have. They don't allow IAEA inspections, but agreed to allow the U.S. to conduct inspections...with advance notice of course. 😁

sooooo......

Is it not possible to agree that Israel is NOT likely to act in "our" best interest - while still having the opinion that "bad things happening to the radical religious Iranian regime" is in EVERYONES best interest?

Is it possible to agree that while Israel lies to the USA all the time - and spies on her allies - that the USA also lies to her friends and spies on her allies?
...because I'm ok with that too.

This entire episode is playing out like a scene from Pulp Fiction.
Join me on a brief journey of cinematic metaphor and fever-dream story telling:

"Brad, Flock of Seagulls, and the Shooter-in-the-Shitter" - aka IRAN - have fucked around with Marcellus for the last time.

Marvin is clearly in cahoots with them - yet, he doesn't bother to let them know that there is another guy - with a hand canon - that is intent on killing them. It seems like Marvin has been spared, and yet, he still meets with tragedy.
...much like the assholes around the world that KNOW on any given day, that Iran is funding and deploying small cells around the globe to commit acts of international terrorism as well as providing overt, covert, clandestine, implicit, and explicit funding to know terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hez'b-allah.

Jules and Vincent, much like the US military, show up to visit violence on those who would seek to deceive their boss. Unfortunately, Vincent gets a little sloppy with his trigger discipline and shoots Marvin in the face. One might argue that Vincent did it on purpose out of anger for Marvin not telling them that there was yet another violent aggressor hiding in the bathroom and Vincent failed to check it before becoming distracted by the case (because every surprise event in the movie is tied to a bathroom)
...the shooter hides in the bathroom
...drug abuse foreshadowing happens when Mia goes to the bathroom at Jack Rabbit Slims
...Mia overdoses while Vincent is in the bathroom
...Honey Bunny and Pumpkin hold up the Diner while Vincent is in the bathroom
...Vincent is killed because he loses situational awareness (and his submachine gun) while in the bathroom

The same thing happens when civilized people try to practice diplomacy in the middle east - because the middle east is just one big political shit house.
...metaphorically speaking of course

Then The Wolf shows up. Clearly, the situation that erupted from the interaction with "Brad, Flock of Seagulls, Marivn, and the Shooter-in-the-Shitter" (aka Iran) has come to a head and has to be dealt with on a timeline before Bonnie gets home (aka, before the Iran kills anymore innocent civilians by randomly firing rockets at people they shouldn't even have a beef with right now).
Yet, oddly, Vincent decides to act like an asshole. (much like most of our allies do as long as someone else is doing most of the heavy lifting to solve their problems)

So, what does The Wolf say to them ???
"I'm here to help - if my help's not appreciated then lotsa luck, gentlemen"

It's almost like the rest of the world is always complaining "that someone should do something" and then when "someone" does something, people cant wait to bitch about THAT as well.
It's what America should say every time one of our ships leave port.
Everytime one of our aircfrat takes off.
Every time a soldier loads a magazine.
"I'm here to help - if my help's not appreciated then lotsa luck, gentlemen"

'No new wars' is no more of a campaign promise than saying no new taxes, or hope and change, or finish the job or I'm with her or even Jimmy Carter telling mother fuckers to turn their heat down and wear a sweater...
...our enemies get a vote.

Anyone that reeeeeeaaaalllly thinks campaign promises are a real boy probably think "Pinocchio" was a documentary.

The "establishment" has had their hands on the "Epstein files" for 20 years now - with NOTHING - not even a froplet being released.
...because the establishment is protecting itself
...and with only a year in office, we have MORE information about Epstein and his global cohorts than at anytime in the last 20 years.
Don't matter though. It's not enough. It's not "everything" - whatever "everything" means.
Then there is that whole "no new wars thing" - the one that Iran started back in the late 70's - the one that every President since then has blustered about.
The one that Obama tried to bribe his way out of.
The one that Biden pretended never happened.
...yada yada yada

The folks that have become emotional hostages of their love for Iran and its international terrorist hell spawn are like Mia Wallace...
-a slobbering, helpless bag of guts.
-hovering near death.
-victimized by her own faults.
-spoiled rotten by the entitled treatment she gets from her gangster husband
-now, reliant on a fucking heroin addict to save her from her own addiction

To what end?
She's just going to lie about the event, pretend it didn't happen, and go right back to bad habits as soon as the storm passes.

So goes the rest of the world as it relates to Iran.
...unless "somebody does something"

Don't kid yourself America - what's happening may not be optimal foreign policy, but a global community with a radical Islamo-fascist Iran laying in ruin is a safer place for all of us.

Just my two cents

It's called intersectionality people - I'm surprised more of you don't understand how fluid the concept of winning really is !!!

This is what empowerment looks like on a global sociopolitical scale folks...
-already won the war
-leaving things open ended (for the optics)
-allowing folks to 'tag in' and take credit for helping (cant do that unless you say you need help)
-doesn't really "need" the help because he already won, last year
-for now, he is just winning the shit out of things
-to show that he really means business

The thing to admire is how easily he seems to be doing all of these things at the same time.
A democrat would have to pay someone a plallet full of cash just to claim that we were "pursuing talks"

Hey Iran... GO FUCK YOURSLEVES !!!
...RIGHT IN YOUR OWN STUPID ASSES

Say it with me people...

YOU ESS AY
YOU ESS AY
YOU ESS AY

C'mon Man - LOUDER...
YOU ESS AY
YOU ESS AY
YOU ESS AY

News like this gives me a freedom boner - I can't wait to vote for another Trump term !!!
