Jussie Smollett thread (most recent updates on Page 4)

If he pays the fine, it's the least he could do for wasting the CPD's time away from actual cases, like you know, the rising murder rate, the high rates of violent crime, and the high levels of gang crime. I personally believe that if he doesn't do any time for this, he should at least pay the city back for the time away from actual cases that he caused, officers that were pulled off of other investigations (like homicide investigations) because this was a high profile case. What he did was absolutely bogus, and 130k to him is probably pocket change. Just my two cents as a Chicagoan.
 
This should really piss people off... But yet everyone is a pigeon on a wire, laughing and joking until you get accused of a #metoo rape or a #mebleached hate crime.

They should have at least fucked with that dude, they dismissed all charges against a left leaning city government. This is significant and insane at the same time. Thank god I live in Texas, we are only putting up with stupid shit at half speed.

Jussie Smollett's case to proceed in Chicago: federal judge

A federal judge ruled on Tuesday that the lawsuit against actor Jussie Smollett will not be dismissed.

The suit asks that Smollett reimburse the police department the $130,000 spent on investigating his alleged attack, which he asked to be dismissed because he couldn't have known how much time and money was spent on the investigation.
 
A judge has ordered Google to turn over a year’s worth of Jussie Smollett’s emails, private messages, photographs and location data to a special prosecutor who is looking into why prosecutors abruptly dismissed criminal charges against the actor.

On Wednesday, the Chicago Tribune reported that it had obtained two search warrants submitted by special prosecutor Dan Webb and signed off by Cook County Judge Michael Toomin last month.

If the focus of the investigation is why PROSECUTORS dismissed the charges, why investigate the offender? Me thinks there is some prosecutorial mischief to be found within Smolett’s comms. Will be interesting to follow.
