Super Sweet Movie Discussion Thread

"Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets"
Cool looking in 3D, too long by about an hour. Too many clearly recognizable movie references, some obvious (the Fifth element, Avatar) and some more obscure (Immortal), some 70's and 80's tunes which really "grounded" what could have been an original space opera. And two leads who look like teenagers with old eyes...

Too bad.

Huh.

Death Wish reboot. Has potential...

Cue AC/DC music and witty Bruce Willis -

Too bad, I would have enjoyed a "dark" move with Willis.

Stealing Clint's "gun finger" from Gran Torino nets you negative Karma points.

Everytime I think I've seen the most fucked up thing I can possibly see from you , I am pleasantly disappointed to be wrong again.

Kinda like that..?

Looks good!

Charles Bronson did a finger gun in the original death wish movie....

I'll be more careful of making comments like that in the future.

To put what I was saying earlier in a more serious tone, the people who did the sound design did a phenomenal job. It was a bit louder than I would have liked (I can see why they did that, though), but that's really the only semi-complaint I can think about. I normally prefer just watching movies at home, but I'm really happy that I saw it in theaters because of the sound and seeing it on an IMAX screen was just the cherry on top.

I'll be going to see Dunkirk this week

A good movie, but so different as movies go. It was more like watching a random moment in time, than a movie with with plot development or opportunity to learn about the characters.

Not a knock in anyway, just different.
