Super Sweet Movie Discussion Thread

I'm not usually one to eagerly anticipate movies anymore but Bohemian Rhapsody has me counting the days.

That was a great movie. The book was much better, but otherwise, they did well with that movie.

Aaeeeiiiiyaaaa

Brother, it cost 60-million to make and only made 26-million at the box office, a commercial and critical bomb. The acting, Jesus God, put a bucket on my head and hit it with a hammer for 96 minutes...

But it's apparently become a "cult classic" so you must be a cult member. }:-);-)😁

And I must admit, I've seen worse.

Saw Skyscraper yesterday, if you have the option to, watch Die Hard instead. My quality of life has measurably decreased since viewing. The best summary I can give is that it's a PG-13 Die Hard, only a lot worse.

Yippie Kay Yay Mother Frickers.

Watched Sicario 2 this past weekend. It's a little slow to start compared to the first but the last 30 minutes is well worth the build up.

Mod Edit -

Go easy on spoilers for current films please.

Does anyone else that has not seen #2 see this post as a spoiler? Am I about to mis-rage/overreact? Or is this a green light for full-on blue falcon spoiler rage territory?

ETA: I say this because the trailers lead us to believe this is their showdown.

Hype Level = 9000+
I LOVE Godzilla and the Toho monsters. Just got a quote on a full back tat of Cthulu and Godzilla fighting. That last shot of The King with the F35s backing him up made he hard as a rock... don’t judge me...

New Mission Impossible getting crazy good reviews....

Tom Cruise's new 'Mission: Impossible' is one of the series' best

In order to sneak into a Paris nightclub, Hunt performs a HALO jump (high-altitude, low-open), a move used by military personnel to infiltrate hostile areas. It means jumping from a plane at an altitude of 25,000 feet and not popping the chute until he’s under 2,000 feet. Why he does this rather than take a taxi is not logically defensible. But Cruise wanted to make that crazy jump, and he did it 106 times until they shot it exactly the way it needed to be. He’s the first actor to have done it on camera.

Yeah, no. Patrick Swayze did his own aerial scenes for Point Break and dumping below 2 grand...I know several guys who do it, all of them are high time jumpers, and you have to be Johnny-on-the-spot with any malfunctions.

Good bit of Scientology/ movie studio promo material though.

I keep hearing how good MI is, and as for the skydiving? I mean, it is pretty cool for Cruise to do it himself.

He's cemented his role as my second favorite Cruise, just a hair behind Carter.

Thinking about it, he may be the first actor to do the altitude (above 15k) on camera, but not his own scenes. I saw one website state that Swayze had to stop jumping for insurance purposes and he was only allowed to film that one jump in PB. Problem is, that isn't true and he was still jumping as of '98.
