Super Sweet Movie Discussion Thread

Free Solo is pretty great. A lot of interesting components touched on that I'd love to know more about. Available on NatGeo right now. Check it out.

I hope they come out with the raw footage of his climb; I'd have liked to see him work some more of the pitches.

Do you mean like the full 3 hours 56 min or whatever it took for him to make the climb?

I'm pretty intrigued by the psychology of it. People like him do seem to be wired just a bit differently. They touch on this with the MRI. Closely tied to this are some of the points touched on in re: to his interpersonal skills.

Yeah the whole climb would be a hell of a thing to watch.
I do like that the documentary seemed to have a good focus on his mindset. His relationship with his girlfriend (like straight up saying he feels no obligation to consider her when he climbs) was interesting to watch.

He's done two interviews with Joe Rogan (pre/post climb) that are really worth checking out if you want to get a good feel for his worldview and mindset.

I'll check those out. Thanks!

Watched Captain Marvel, worth the price of entry. Really enjoyed the various nods to the other things in the MCU plus its Brie Larson. I don't really understand the controversy/hate for it, then again I'm not as invested in Marvel as I am DC.

But I'm looking forward to the real Captain Marvel.

On am unrelated note I thought I wouldn't be, but I'm hyped as fuck for the live action Dumbo and Lion King remake. Not to mention you got Godzilla coming up? 2019 is gonna be amazing.

OH AND GOD DAMNED DETECTIVE PIKACHU?? LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO

Watched Triple Frontier. Tons of potential but ultimately fell short. It was just OK. Still not sure where the name came from. Quite a few fairly significant head scratcher moments with the story telling. Worth watching if for no other reason than to reconfirm the idea that Netflix really continues to struggle with how to make a good film...can't they hire a couple people away from HBO or something to get it right?

I liked it. I do wish it had more action and been more of a shoot em up instead of the suspense thriller it became

I liked Triple Frontier. Really did right with the complexities of interpersonal relationships with guys who served together. They loved each other, hated each other, all at the same time.

I also wish it was more on the action, but overall pretty good. Actually, it would have been a really good Netflix series, they could have really packed a lot into 8 or 10 1-hour episodes.

I've never done anything cool like you guys but I liked Trippple Frontier!!!!!

Even hollywood comms can't keep tragedy from happening. People die and it doesn't seem to be that happy ending everyone wants!!! Life sometimes just SUCKS!!!!

8-)O_o:ROFLMAO::-x

ETA - why I liked it!!!

Seriously. It was pretty good and all of a sudden, it's like they said "Fuck it, let's just finish this off and go get drunk.".

Let’s walk around a cartel boss’ house for a few minutes and then just wing the raid lol.

I’m guessing they killed off Affleck because they didn’t want to pay him to return for a sequel (since the dude passed the coordinates for where they dropped Much of the cash).
