Super Sweet Movie Discussion Thread

Anyone else check out the Motley Crue biopic The Dirt?

I'm not usually into these kinds of movies; ie Bohemian Rhapsody, etc. but watched this tonight and thought it was pretty entertaining. Those dudes were out of control. :ROFLMAO:

My mate reads all the rock bios...he reckons theirs was the best, biggest and most mad.

I read Nikki Sixx's autobio...that was mad. He and a buddy had this competition to see who could go the longest without a shower and still get laid. I think the winner was around 20 days. The book was insane.

Just checked out the newest Jordan Peele movie, "Us". Honestly, I was pretty disappointed. It was meant to be a straight horror film but ended up more psychological thriller with some gaping plot holes. No spoilers but the big twist was fairly forseeable and there were some weird exposition points that killed the pace of the movie. Overall, 5/10.

The marketing for Us was wrong.
I didn't mind the plot (I like ambiguous stories) but I agree the final exposition dump was too long. I got the twist early, but the 3 other people I was with didn't catch it before it was revealed. It's definitely a movie people will either really like or not be impressed with.

@Cookie_
There were just too many ambiguous things for it to fully mesh in my mind. There were probably 4 or 5 different themes the movie was exploring but only barely scratched the surface. It didnt really get me to think at all, nor did it scare me. Definitely agree you fall into one of the two camps.

Lord of War just got added to Netflix, as someone who was too young to watch it when it came out in 2005, I thought it was funny and a pretty good movie. I'm guessing Wardogs was inspired by it, but hey Nicholas Cage was actually really good in that movie.

Damn it. I really wanted this to be good.
I would say most of the reviews in here are pretty on point. It has about every SOF trope that's ever been portrayed in Movies and written about in books. The cast really carries the film. If you were a civvy though, you'd probably get wood like playing COD.

They really don't show you logistics of course, these dudes ran out of water days before and surmounted the Andes somehow. But of course, like I said if you were a Civvy it doesn't matter to you.

But holy hell this was a long ass movie.

Saw triple frontier, thoroughly enjoyed it. Liked the chemistry between the guys, very realistic. Liked the CQB in the house- no yelling or even running, very smooth and semi realistic. Could’ve done a better job checking their corners but I digress... also the soundtrack was great- loved ”Orion” at the end.

The Matrix at 20: how the sci-fi gamechanger remains influential
I rewatched The Matrix on a plane ride back to CONUS recently. While the script may seem cheesy or wooden or forced, the messages still rang clear. It all made sense. I remember seeing this as a high school senior with friends and how we marveled it was so... unique. Unlike anything we had ever seen.

Seeing films now 20 years old reminds me how much has changed since their debuts.
