Saw a few movies over the past week or so. A couple older, one new...

The Magnificent Seven (remake): Meh. Acting was uninspiring. In was just flat. Skip this one and stick with the original.

Jack Reacher: Terrible; almost unwatchable. Tom Cruise is beginning to show his age.

Jumanji (remake): Didn't really want to go see it but was pleasantly surprised. It certainly won't win any awards but I was entertained.

In "relatively" recent memory, last time I was thoroughly impressed was when I watched "L.A. Confidential". Or going back a little, "the long goodbye" with Elliott Gould...

Gotta comment on M7. It was an entirely different movie if you trace it from the original Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa (see below). I was not only disappointed but thought fuckit, I should have watched some porn instead.

He's also busted himself up several times, delaying filming in the process. At some point you have to let the pros handle the work, you have a lot of people riding on you doing your job, not playing stuntman.

Did you see this video of him busting his ankle...and finishing the take? F*cking rockstar.

While JB is a good choice, the best choice would have likely been Stephen Lang from Avatar. Not exactly sure why he is going to be a villain in Deadpool though...

This guys works out at my gym, he's a beast. Nice guy, too.

I think Black Panther was the best Marvel movie besides Civil War. Funny and well acted, with the best villain they’ve had in any of the films so far. I don’t know how it can be considered propaganda or how afrofuturism can be construed to be something bad. It was just a good movie. Plain and simple

What’s your logic? The dude played the only true villain in Marvel cinematic history (Loki is an antihero at this point but Props to Tom H. For bringing that dirtbag to life). And when I say true villain I mean someone who isn’t a caricature and isn’t just the simple power mad “let’s destroy the world” type. He played a grounded character who, despite the SEAL shit, was a well developed character with real, relatable issues and a plan that made you go “maybe he was onto something...” also he threw some humor in there- “heyyyy Auntie” had me dying. (Go see it if you don’t get that reference. You won’t regret it.)

Just got done watching Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Probably the best movie I've watched in a really long time. I laughed and even maybe cried a little, I don't know, I was cutting onions for chilli at the time.

Going to watch Dallas Buyers Club for the first time later today.
