He's a BAMF Marine. I expected a little more out of him. But still a fucking classic that I love (even 3 despite its' shortcomings).

Originally The producers and Coppola hated Al Pacino’s performance in The Godfather they didn’t like how he played Micheal as being quiet and reserved. They wanted a more aggressive classic gangster and they felt Pacino was not up to it. Francis Coppola even went up to him and said “Kid I had so much faith in you and your just not cutting it” They wouldn’t change their minds about him till they saw the dinner scene and realized they had something special

Finally a Director's Cut that I am REALLY looking forward to this.

Giving Coppola the opportunity to move scenes around, change music overlays, and from what it sounds like add some additional scenes while deleting others really gets me excited about seeing it.

3 is not a terrible movie, but it certainly does not hold up to the expectations one would have after viewing the first two films.

One of my core issues with 3 was that it had an "80's movie" feel to it, especially the helicopter scene with the machine guns. That scene alone took me out of the film and I was never able to fully engage again.

Re: Godfather III (recut)

Meh.

It’s been many years since I’ve seen III, a few observations after watching the updated version.

Glad they cut the fluff.

Just that one observation alone shows what a flawed movie III is, there is not even one scene in I or II that I would “cut for time”, but many I’ve seen online that I wish they had kept in the films...Off the top of my head, the scene where The Don goes to say goodbye to his first consigliere, Genco. Abbandando.

I get the hate for Sophia Coppola. Her acting aside, whenever she attempts to smile, her lips turn into more of a snarl than a smile. Perhaps attractive on some women, but on her it appears she has a look of disgust.

Two things I’ve hated about III from the beginning:

The Michael from II would never in a million lifetimes permit his daughter to be banging his brother’s son. No chance.

That helicopter scene continues to give me douche-chills. It is so influenced by the 80’s action movies; I just hated every second of it.

Connie was a distraction and really did not matter to the film. It’s almost like they thought, ‘well, the actress wants to come back so I guess we’ll have to figure out a role for her’.
