Super Sweet Movie Discussion Thread

Watched the Keira Knightly Pride and Prejudice with my wife last night, she's asked for me to do this for years. She says she sees a lot of Jane Austen character qualities in me. I probably should have done this act of service awhile ago. I will say it's an extremely well done film.

Re: John Wick: Ballerina

*** SPOILER POST ***

The timeline doesn’t add up. When he appears at the end of the film, he should’ve been completely preoccupied with dodging a multi-million-dollar bounty. She originally meets him when he’s “punching his ticket” and heading out to Casablanca and Sophia.— so seeing him pop up at the end felt out of place and pulled me out of the story.

Honestly, they would’ve been better off leaving him out of that early scene with her altogether. I’m guessing his appearance will somehow be explained as some allegiance to the Director and Ruska Roma, but his appearance just felt forced.

I liked it.

The new Bond director, for now at least. I really hope he sticks around.

Denis Villeneuve | Director, Writer, Producer
If I recall correctly, he flat out refused to direct Dune unless there were multiple movies involved out of respect for the size of the story.

That alone has me optimistic about the way he'll treat this franchise, slow movie pacing or not.

New movie coming out based on one of my favorite books, Project Hail Mary: A Novel, by Andy Weir...who also wrote the book the Martian.

Trailer looks very promising....it's a FANTASTIC book....and, if you like audible books...the narrator, Ray Porter, does an outstanding job. He also did the narration for The Martian....

Please please please don't screw this up!

Fuck this trailer. Book is worth reading, movie might be good. Trailer gives away too much

F1 is good. Other than Brad Pitt's overabundance of gold chains and chest hair, the visuals were great, and the movie had a good, believable plot. 8/10.

Maybe you know this, but a lot of the on track stuff was either done with F2 cars made to look like F1 cars or with real footage covered over by authentic liveries in post production. Major crash scenes are real crashes, again with the liveries modified during post. In at least one instance Ferrari has both 23 and 24 liveries in the movie, but only nerds would spot that one.

I haven't seen the movie, but I've seen a few reviews. There are some outright impossible plot points, but its also a movie. There are also some accusations Lewis Hamilton used it to subtlety settle a few scores or present his side of a story or two. I find that last bit hilarious because it is pretty on brand for him.
