Super Sweet Movie Discussion Thread

Going on the 2nd season of Slow Horses an Apple TV. Show about a group of MI5 "spies" working in London, except, I guess "unofficial cover" or something as they are second tier agents that were assigned in this office for screwing up.

Pretty good storyline, dry humor from Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman) who leads the group. In the first season they chase a nationalist domestic terror cell that threatens to behead a Pakistani-Brit. Thought it would turn out all woke or whatever, but it did not. All the typical espionage tricks, back door dealing, car chases, CCTV hacking, etc. Cool show.

I enjoyed the first season.

Check yourself at the door; it's 5/5, got it?

Heard season 5 starts off the rails. Trying to get my GF caught up so we can watch it together.

A House of Dynamite, Netflix

I grew up on the great nuclear apocalypse thrillers of the '80s... Special Alert, The Day After, etc., made in similar fashion. It's extremely well done, taut, with tension, with an unsettling ending. Well, I guess I did not need to sleep tonight anyway.

This is from the same director who did Hurt Locker? I'm still in wonder about how well received that movie was. I thought it was bad.

Maria and I finished third season of The Diplomat. It's good. Wonder if there will be a 4th season.

There needs to be and it wraps up. S3 was really good, but they are upping the stakes to Mission Impossible levels. Wrap it before it jumps the shark, make S4 the last.

Also, this is the movie thread...

Weapons w/ Julia Garner and Josh Brolin on Netflix. I expected a horror-esque movie, but it wasn't. More of a supernatural thriller type. As someone who hates horror, that was a huge plus.

Garner's a teacher missing her entire class minus 1, Brolin's the father of one of the missing. We work out the 5W's until the end. No huge surprises, no huge twists, just a story which is almost unheard of today.

3.5 out of Naruto runners.

Bonus take: Julia Garner is highly underrated and can play just about any role. She's also half my age and I don't care if you judge me...

This looks rad as fuck and I don't speak Ukrainian or Russian. Lol

That's some quality propaganda. I'm impressed they can let quality shooters lime that, away from the front to make a movie.
