The China Thread (Threat)

I certainly am.
Me too! Implying there are rules of decorum in internet memery is silly goose behavior.

@TLDR20 this wasn’t a shot at you- wanna come on in to this hot tub of despair and cynicism like the rest of us? It’s warm and really nice. And you get to just sort of point out hypocrisy on all sides. In reality, it opens up your targets by 50%.

This whole timeline is absolutely ridiculous and I refuse to take it seriously.

And yet there are plenty of geese here having fun and hopefully the majority isn't taking it too seriously. At least I got an offer of a drink and a good laugh from somebody should our paths ever cross. I consider that honorable decorum if that counts for anything.

Why did we (US) make such a big deal about NOT shooting it down, only to shoot it down after popular outrage ensued? And if this was something that needed to be done at all, why didn't we down it when it first crossed into US territory in Alaska? And why, if this was a dangerous foreign spy device, did Canada let it travel literally over their entire country, and cross into ours, without doing something about it?

This whole thing is weird.

China now is making noise about this; demanding the right to retaliate. (What?)

We know how this game works from here. China is going to shoot down something of ours allegedly in Chinese airspace, probably, manned, and then shit will begin to escalate from there.

China is claiming we all ‘do this’ to each other, we all know that we do this to each other, and the US overreacted when the press found out and began to run with it. I have zero problem believing any of that by the way.

It’s being reported that the DOD is claiming that this happened 3 times during the Trump era and he didn’t do anything about it.

1: Until someone can legit explain to me why we should allow a craft from another nation to violate our airspace with the obvious intent of spying, then shame on him if true.

2: I don’t care who stands in front of a podium anymore; I don’t believe what you tell me. If “and that’s a pretty big if”, this did happen multiple times during the Trump term, I have very difficult time believing that someone would not have leaked that info to the press to make Trump look foolish or weak.

100% establishment DoD is lying because it's convenient and easy to blame Trump. Also, it was "two" incursions under the Trump administration yesterday and now 3? Give me a break. Neither Milley and Lloyd are trustworthy people and do not exemplify many of the standards that they hold their officers to.

I thought it was just civilian balloon that went astray. So, why does China care?

Also,

1. Should've been downed near Alaska

2. Blinken, the feckless twat, should've still visited Taiwan

I originally thought it should have been downed earlier, but it is going to be interesting to see what the divers pull up, and it will make the Chinese look bad. Also, I am sure our ELINt gathering was pretty great.

This has happened before and will happen again. It’s the game I guess.

The pattern is clear. I think esteemed colleague @Marauder06 brought it up before, China forced down a Navy aircraft that wasn't even in Chinese airspace, kept our aviators hostage, and professed outrage. I don't recall that we did anything.

They are going to do what they want to do despite logic, quid pro quo, or international norms.

We shoulda blew the shit out of it once it hit the Aleutians.

RIP Carl!

I think the pattern is that it's the Navy. See Riverine surrender to Iran...this breaks the pattern slightly in that the Air Force should have blown this out of the sky over the Bering Sea.
