The Racing Thread

This thread is gonna be wild...

2 years ago I tried to watch Drive to Survive and found it to be utter clown shoes.

This season with all of last year's changes? Ima get bed sores watching that shit in a few weeks when it drops.

RIP Jack Doohan when he doesn't score podiums in his first 4 races.

@AWP F1TV just dropped a new subscription that looks pretty decent. I would get it if I was a tenured employee.

@AWP prepare yourself for my bold prediction...

Obviously we're just through quali #1, but if it's any indication of the what the season holds for the constructors...

1st place - Mclaren - Star talent, podium points scorers.
2nd place - Ferarri - Star talent, podium points scorers.
3rd place - Dare I say...Williams? - Two points scores.
4th place - Red Bull - Lawson isn't ready for the big show. Max will 100% be by himself up front.
5th place - Merc - Hampered by the rookie, George will have to fight up front by himself and I don't think he'll be able to do it consistently.
6th place - Racing Bulls - Hampered by the rookie, but could outplace Merc.
7th place - Aston - Alonso has to carry the weight of himself and the rookie.
8th place - Alpine - Gasly has to carry the rookie.
9th place - Haas - Ocon has to carry the rookie in a new car.
10th place - Kick - Just straight trash - They're just on a path to 2026.

1. McLaren
2. Ferrari
3. Red Bull
4-6: Mercedes, Williams, and VCarb in any order.
7. Aston
8. Alpine. Jack's already fired. RIP
9. Haas might have a functioning car.
10. 4 zeros on the hood and one behind the wheel

My anxiety was through the fucking roof. What an opener.

Shout out to Team Muppet, err...McLaren, for that brillant strategy today. Pit stops? Pffttt! Letting your fastest driver make a run at the lead with 10 laps to go? Balderdash! Protest something you would clearly lose? (chef's kiss)

You even had Max clowning on your team and a driver in the cooldown room.

Brilliant job, boys.

I hadn't watched it yet and I stopped reading your post at McLaren thinking you were just bitter because they're McLaren. I was like, this is the lap...this is the lap...this is....wtf.

Apologies for the lack of spoiler coverage. :(

I have to admit, Max has grown on me. I love that the guy is in zero fucks mode with his opinions. Max has to be considered as a top 10/ top 5 all time F1 driver.

I don't understand...10 laps left, Oscar's clearly faster than Lando (despite my personal biases), so let Oscar go and make a run at Max. If it works, great, if not tell Oscar to pull over and give Lando second. Plus, Lando bottles it around Max, see how Oscar handles Max. 21 or something races left, what if Lando isn't your guy?

3 rookies in the top 10, all of them look like the real deal.

McLaren said Lando was just managing his tires and the amount of time to make up each lap wouldn't work considering the dirty air. Lulz.

That's uh...that's smelling a lot like bullshit. I don't think a single driver complained about tire deg and Oscar was faster in Lando's dirty air than Lando in Max's. Zak needs to do better and find a believable lie or admit he and Andrea cocked this up.

Nobody can strategize like Ferrari, but McLaren is lurking in the shadows trying to learn everything they can.

Ferrari being clowned by a pure rookie makes my heart warm.
Charles seems more aggressive on the radio this year. I hope they're making money on Hamilton, cause he sure isn't bringing any results. Kimi, Ollie, Issac...I'm impressed.

With only 3 races, let's see how I'm doing so far:
1. Nailed (McLaren)
2. Ooof (Mercedes)
3. Nailed it, but not surprised (Red Bull)
4-6: 1 hit in 3, the other two are dog (Williams)
7. Nailed it (Aston)
8. Big miss here (VCarb Racing Bulls)
9. What the hell (Sauber)
10. I underestimated Team Gasly
