Apple's coverage of F1 leaves something to be desired. Having watched practices and qually I knew what to expect so I skipped the preliminary crap and joined as Brundle was finishing his pit walk. I think Oscar showed character in taking overall ownership of the crash even though the car as we suspected was part of the problem.
Minus the first 10 or so laps the race went as suspected. 5 DNFs, Merc running away with the race, and Ferrari being Ferrari. Max put on a somewhat overlooked clinic, Ferrari's quickness off the line is no longer a rumor, and I still hate the new power units for all of the reasons. Caddy did what was expected of them so people bashing their performance can eat a dick and start their own F1 team from scratch.
Off to China and we can start tracking trends among the teams.
I actually wanted to watch their last race but they held it on a Saturday. Indy seems to be kind of hit and miss with either bangers or snooze fests and is still better than NASCAR IMO.
I could probably like NASCAR if they dropped the playoff nonsense and handled the cars like GT3.

I haven’t gone into full data nerd mode, but friends and I have noticed some things. Granted, a lot of this is simply there are new regs. You’ll have teething problems regardless of the power unit parameters and I’m not blind to that.
The hydraulic and electrical failures have been staggering. They were before McLaren today, but people really need to take notice. The reigning WCC had a dual DNS because of unrelated electrical issues. Mercedes, who supplies PUs to Merc, McLaren, Williams, and Alpine...all of those have had a pretty high number of problems compared to Ferrari's PU. Every PU provider has suffered problems here and there, but Merc is consistently keeping cars in garages or stranded on the side of the track. Max, Colapinto, and one or two others have also had sudden lockups on the rear axle related to the power regen process. Maybe you hit the brakes and the car works as advertised, maybe you hit the brakes and you have a 1000% bias on the rear axle for energy harvesting. Who knows? The (alleged) "pinnacle of motorsport" is giving us THIS in 2026? Really?
The "pinnacle of motorsport" is held hostage by emotional handwringing championed by an abused autistic woman and former US VP with ties to both Epstein and making BANK from this manufactured climate nonsense.
Fuck them all.
I won't regurgitate the carbon numbers because we all know those cars could be coal powered and still generate less pollution than the planes used to fly them around the globe for 24 (reduced to 22 because of 2026 inflation) races. So this whole thing is a sham and I'm not even addressing the "racing" it has produced. The cars are mobile battery charging stations.
I hope all of you Drive to Survive white girls are fucking happy with what you've done If you ever need a reason to hate liberal Euro hippie trash, become an F1 fan.

What's funny about this is everyone up in arms over his honesty and criticisms has forgotten, didn't know about, or chosen to ignore that he's said this over and over since the first sim models were introduced in 23/24. He's repeatedly sounded the alarm well before other drivers began doing the same last year. The sim models pundits and fans poo-pooed then are a reality now.
But Max is the bad guy for "suddenly" speaking up? Yeah, nah, history doesn't support that take and the receipts are easy to find.
"But there's racing now, there's passing, blah, blah, blah." Sure, but at what cost? We're seeing artificially generated racing, real passes made possible by energy harvesting and the timely usage of a turbo boost a la Mario Kart. We've also seen that once a car can barely eek out a +1.0 (WHERE ARE MY GODDAMNED DECIMALS?!?!?!??!!!!) SECOND gap it is over. Dirty air remains a thing because fluid dynamics does not give a shit about our wants as racing fans. Until we go back to smaller cars this will be a thing. I remember NASCAR (maybe this still occurs) when drivers discovered they could take the air off of the preceding car's rear end. Unload the car in front and watch it spin out, all without touching and all without points for causing an accident. Again, fluid dynamics does not give a damn about your rules or our wants.
Also, Apple can sick a dirty monkey's dick. Where are my decimals and where is Jolyon Palmer's Tuesday analysis? You want me to never buy an Apple product? This is how you make that a reality.
Going back to a previous post of mine: shout out to Mercedes for their childish gamesmanship. For those who aren't aware, Merc gave customers essentially a Beta engine and software for pre-season testing. They didn't deliver a final product until right before the season began and super pinky swear they aren't running anything different than the customer teams. Good job, Toto! You tried to protect your secrets at the expense of more feedback about the power unit's problems. I guess that's working out for you, but damn...
Apropos of nothing, Zak Brown sucks and I hope he dies in a fire. The 2025 WDC was rigged.
