The Trump Presidency 2.0

Fox had an interesting bit about the shutdown I didn't know. It isn't just healthcare for illegal immigrants. The standoff also deals with ACA subsidies which began with the passage of the ACA and was greatly expanded under Biden as part of his COVID response. Those subsidies are set to expire at the end of this year and that deadline was set by?

Democrats.

The shutdown is horrible for America but inevitable and Democrats are still blaming Trump? Clown shoes. No wonder places like CNN are cold to lukewarm with their criticism of Republicans. They know.

It's been primarily the ACA subsidies the whole time.

The bit about immigrants is that lawful immigrants could recieve Medicaid/medicare but the BBB removes some of those immigrants.

Starting in July 2025, Medicare eligibility is restricted to U.S. citizens, permanent residents (i.e., green card holders), Cuban-Haitian entrants, and people residing under the Compacts of Free Association. This means that lawfully present immigrants who don’t meet these criteria, such as refugees, asylees, and people with Temporary Protected Status, will no longer be eligible for Medicare.

ETA: In my opinion, it's a bad time for the Dems to be fighting over the ACA subsidies. From a strategic perspective, they should have reopen the government after a week or so and kept on message about how the GOP refused to keep them.

Come ~June/July when prices jump up, then they can force the issue. People would be more likely to support it once their health insurance actually increases.

SNAP benefits also run out of money on Nov1.

ObamaCare, because it certainly isn't affordable, completely distorted the marketplace for both large corporations and small businesses. Previously, employers over 500 personnel were required to offer coverage. Well under ObamaCare that number went to 50. So, small businesses who couldn't afford it laid off like 5 employees and kept their head counts under 50.

A lot of employers with 50 or less employees were providing health coverage as an incentive to attract employees. BUT that coverage in the marketplace is so much more expensive today. Tons of employers under 500 personnel carried coverage for their employees as well, because incentive. Well by dropping the employee floor health insurance companies had less incentive to provide competitive and affordable plans to employers.

Oh also, remember for the first several years individuals without health coverage faced huge fines. Most of the individual coverage plans pre-Obamacare were great. Now they're absolute shit.

Oh, Jackie and Steve, the 50 yr old Gen Xers who retired early and clear 130k/year in retirement benefits are about to lose their 1300/month subsidy? Well, eff off and get back to work. All these subsidies do is reduce competition and jack up the price. But Democrats have the iq of a snail.

Sounds like Jackie and Steve are hard working Americans that buckled down and invested appropriately so they could retire at 50. But fuck them because they made good choices. Hate to break it to you, but Jackie and Steve aren't responsible for the premiums you're paying.

I accept that I’m in the minority here, but I will never understand how this type of communication from the President of the United States of America, is appropriate or funny.
Admittedly, as an admirer of Winston Churchill, I do appreciate this kind of contemporary whit. For instance, Churchill once had an encounter that went something like this,

Bessie Braddock: “Winston, you are drunk, and what’s more you are disgustingly drunk.”

WSC: “Bessie, my dear, you are ugly, and what’s more, you are disgustingly ugly. But tomorrow I shall be sober and you will still be disgustingly ugly.”

Game. Set. Match.

Sometimes, they just deserve it. Aside from her husband banging his intern in "our house", how is Trump ruining it? I think it'll be an improvement. The guy knows a little about building stuff. Its just partisan politics from Hillary.

No, but featuring wealthy Americans to try and draw sympathy from me as I grind to maybe retire at 65 ain't it. As I mentioned above, Obamacare destroyed the health coverage system we had.

when everything is Notsee Notsee Notsee - fashits fashits fashits - notsee fashits - raycyst raycyst raycyst - notsee fashits raycycst !!!
...all day
...every day
...including from Bill Clintons wife

Well I'm just going to say; its pretty easy for me to laugh when the Notsee-Fashits-Raycyst-in-Chief reminds Bill's wife that her husband sodomized a government clerk in "our house"
I'll take that kind of tit-for-tat all day.
...every day

But it's necessary.
Hillary and crew have been taking the low road for more than a decade. Sticking your nose in the air and saying "we are better than that" is a losing strategy.
Was Biden groping wives/kids and sniffing them"Presidential"?
They will stop when it is no longer effective, and that's what Trump is doing to them.

There's an opportunity cost in there somewhere. Your choice to grind in whatever job sector you're in was your choosing. If you want to sip wine on a Sunday at the golf club with Steve, it will require a change in your strategy.

Or, just continue to grind until you're 65. We all choose our own path and we're all responsible for that decision.

I don't think it's funny, and I'd prefer our president not engage in this type of behavior. But after what people like Hillary Clinton did to our country over the last 10 years, and the things she/they got away with, I just don't care about it anymore.
