The Trump Presidency 2.0

White House "Ball Room" Addition Sure Looks Like it Could Blow Up Alderaan • The Havok Journal Breaking: The White House unveils its newest addition — a $250M “ballroom” that totally doesn’t look like the Death Star. Officials insist it’s for diplomacy, not domination.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a move that has left architects, astronomers, and rebel sympathizers equally baffled, construction crews at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue are putting the final touches on what officials are calling “a modest addition to the East Wing.”

The addition—officially listed in federal filings as the Diplomatic Events And Tactical Hospitality Strategic Theater And Receptionhall has drawn comparisons to a certain… facility from the Star Wars movie series.

Anyone wanna bet Trump announces that he found money in the budget for SNAP and then dunks on Democrats for the next month? Moneyline bet here, I am giving +200 (dog) odds.

Follow on bet if the above turns true- how soon before democrats talk impeachment for using funds Trump wasn't supposed to in order to keep SNAP going? The over/under on that one is one day.

As folks start going broke from the shut down - Just a reminder - "Soylent Green" took place in 2022.
...Soylent Green is people

...and since when do the democrats need a reason to impeach ???

POTUS has no means to fund it because of the Antideficiency Act and I believe only the USDA can use carryover funds as contingency, but that would only be for like 30 days. Since it's an entitlement program, anything POTUS would suggest would require congress to appropriate.

RDT&E to MILPERS is an ADA, no? I don't think anyone cares due to the circumstances.

Until the average American gets impacted by the shutdown, it will continue. The average American is not on SNAP, work for the Federal Government ( to include the military), or receive any assistance (outside of social security or medicad, both of which come from mandatory spend so no impact). The market clearly doesn’t care the Government is shut down (DOW is up 2k this month, S&P is up 300). Come November, there’s not a single Senate seat that’s up for grabs. So right now there are no losers in the Senate (come this time next year we won’t be shut down and the voters will have forgotten anyway).

There are USDA Contingency funds that the Dems say can be used, which the agency says it can't use. I bet the Admin "finds a way" to use those.

Replace SNAP with milpay and you might be right. They "found another LOA" last night to pay us.
I know colors/pots of money can be converted through OMB, but no idea if that's happened or not.

ETA: Also think it's dependent on how many seats they when next week. If they take the house odds shoot up.

Not gonna lie though, this shows me that the bloat in the Federal government is massive.

Should be an ADA because of color. But POTUS has immunity. In the end it's probably just internal violations being observed and then fixed in the courts; externally it's "taking care of the troops"

I agree with that. I think a huge difference is the money was at least appropriated to the DoD. If money starts moving from different departments it'll probably be a bit more sketch.

Don't worry, we have federal judges ordering the executive to allocate funds which congress didn't approve (which is a constitutional violation).

Doesn't matter what the admin does, they'll hate him for it either way. I just can't wait for the Democratic Socialists of America to take over NYC, so the dems will finally come to the table and reopen the government.

Don't worry, what happens somewhere doesn't matter elsewhere... or so I've been assured.

Why do these people sue the executive instead of Congress? Last I checked the Judicial branch and Executive branches don't have the power of the purse. So why is the Judicial branch directing the executive to release emergency funds to fund entitlements. how are those funds going to be replenished. Judge should have thrown that out.

Bro… you know why.

Why would an activist judge throw a case out when they know they can successfully legislate from the bench without consequence ?

Just asking for a friend
